Thanks to everyone who took part in my very first giveaway and congratulations to Sherri, the proud new owner of Field Guide to Cookies!
Wow, you all were amazing, rattling off your favorite cookies. You made me hungry. I’m still hungry for cookies, so I thought we’d have a fun little poll. (You’ll have to indulge me here since my “real day job” as a marketing analyst is rearing its ugly head with Excel lists and percentages!) Although I got a sense from the comments that chocolate chip cookies are by far the favorite, I thought I would do a little calculating and see what the Top 10 were. Here are YOUR favorite cookies!
#1: Chocolate Chip Cookies.
The classic favorite. Most everyone has a favorite chocolate chip cookie recipe, but in the case that you don’t or if you’re just looking for something new to make, check out the Thick and Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookies. They’re absolutely incredible and my favorite.

#2: Chocolate Cookies
There was significant chatter about chocolate cookies with all kinds of ingredients – espresso, chocolate chips, white chocolate chips, etc. I have made an Imitation Oreo cookie, but never a true chocolate cookie. Hmm…
Since holding this poll, I made Better-than-Brownies Chocolate Cookies. All I can say is, WOW. You’ll have to make these for yourself and tell me if you think they live up to their name!
#3: Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies
You all like your chocolate, that’s for sure! Thanks to inspiration from a cookie made by my Chief Culinary Consultant’s mom, I developed these Triple Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Cookies a few months ago. They’ve received rave reviews, with more than a couple taste testeres claiming they were better than chocolate chip!
#4: Peanut Butter Cookies
I swear I hadn’t done all of this number crunching before I made Peanut Butter cookies earlier this week! This is my all-time favorite recipe and it comes straight from my mom’s old, beat up recipe book full of handwritten index cards.
#5: Snickerdoodles
I went on a blabbering lovefest about the snickerdoodle cookies at Noodle & Company back in February, but to be honest, the one and only time I’ve tried snickerdoodles they were an abysmal failure. I’ve been meaning to try to replicate that fabulous cookie…
And thanks to this poll, I have finally had success! Check out what are quite possible the best Snickerdoodle cookies ever!
#6: Sugar Cookies
Ahh, the glorious sugar cookie. There’s something so classic and pure about the sugar cookie, isn’t there? I’ve been going crazy with sugar cookies over here as of late, with the Pittsburgh Penguins decorated cookies (which includes Dorie Greenspan’s All-Purpose Sugar Cookie recipe). I even put together a little tutorial on how to decorate sugar cookies with royal icing. I’m having so much fun I’m making another batch for Friday night’s Game 7. GO PENS!
#7: Ginger Cookies
Gingerbread, ultimate ginger, spiced ginger… lots of ginger! Truth be told, I’ve never made a ginger cookie in my life, although Gingerbread Cookies are currently on my Top 100 list of things to make.
#8: Oatmeal Raisin Cookies
I was lucky enough to stumble upon a fantastic Oatmeal Raisin cookie recipe a couple of years ago, and I haven’t looked back since!
#9: Macaroons
Can you believe I’ve never even eaten a macaroon? Yeah, I wouldn’t believe it either. What’s wrong with me?!
Macaroons were the winner in the poll below, so true to my word, I made them. Check out the Chocolate-Dipped Coconut Macaroons! And since there was some disparity between the American macaroon and its European ancestor the Macaron, I went ahead and made Almond Macarons filled with Nutella.
#10: Three-Way Tie: Peanut Butter Blossoms, No-Bake Cookies, and White Chocolate Macadamia Nut
Alright, it wouldn’t be Christmas without Peanut Butter Blossoms, so you can bet your bottom dollar (hello? Annie?) I have a tried-and-true recipe.
However, I have never made (or eaten) No-Bake Cookies and I have never baked White Chocolate Macadamia Nut cookies either. Since holding the poll, I made No-Bake Chocolate, Peanut Butter & Oatmeal cookies that are absolutely to-die-for and dangerously addictive! I also made the White Chocolate Macadamia Nut cookies that are wonderfully chewy and studded with tons of nuts and white chocolate.
Now for the fun!! YOU get to vote on which of the cookies I bake (and blog) next. The truth is, I’ll probably make them all eventually, but we all need a little nudge every now and again, right? And since you were all so wonderful in sharing with me your favorite cookie, I’d like for you to help me expand my horizons.

UPDATE: As you can see, the poll is now closed. The winner, by the slimmest of margins, was Macaroons. I’ll be making and blogging these during the upcoming week. This is so fun! If macaroons don’t win, you have to get to a bakery and try a macaroon!!! Dipped in chocolate? Even better
No bake cookies were the first recipe I ever posted on my blog.
You should definitely give ‘em a shot. They’re super quick and easy, buuut I’d really love to see some macaroons. I’ve never even eaten one either!

I voted for the White Chocolate Macadamia Nut cookes. They are my husband’s favorite and I’ve never made them for him!
I voted for the no bake cookies and I will definately try out your recipe. Has anyone tried making the French macarons? Not to be confused with the American style macaroons – totally different. I have tried making them and they are really a “cookie” of their own. They take time and do not work well in a Houston kitchen – a little too humid. Just wondering as they really look wonderful and delicious.
I voted for No Bake Cookies. I love the stuff and can eat the whole batter by myself. I’ve tried making it and couldn’t get it to turn out right.
As an engineer, I’m proud of your need to crunch numbers and play with Excel spreadsheets. I voted for macaroons since I’ve never actually made them. It’ll be interesting to see which wins out.

I’ve never eaten a macaroon either, but I voted for ginger. Those oatmeal cookies look really good. I’m bookmarking them for sure!
Just to clarify.. did you mean Macarons or Macaroons?
My vote goes to the french Macarons!!! I was extremely intimidated by the recipe but so curious about the results. It took a good week of experimenting (which was so much fun in itself) to finally get them right.
But the effort is well worth it because they are sooooooo good and once you’ve mastered the technique the flavor combos are endless!!

This is Jane again, being humble and offering congratulations for the Pens’ win last night. I was very sad. But there’s always next year, and I WILL be making jersey sugar cookies for the playoffs, so be ready!
Thanks for the great idea-but where did you find a jersey-shaped cookie cutter? I thought I had about every shape they made.
Liliana – I’m glad you enjoyed the sugar cookies, and yes they were certainly more delicious after winning! I made a new batch for the game on Friday and also hand-cut a Stanley Cup. The rest of the cookies weren’t allowed to touch it, and we ate it after the game ended
