With Halloween behind us, I am now in full-blown holiday mode. Well, my head, at least, is in full-blown holiday mode. I haven’t purchased a Christmas gift or baked a Christmas cookie yet, but I am ready for snow, Christmas trees, Christmas movies, and of course all of the wonderful aromas wafting from the kitchen while holiday goodies are baking. I am still trying to whittle down my list of cookies and candies and thinking about which I want to make for gift-giving and house visits, and which to make for pure enjoyment.
I’d love to try out some new recipes as well as share some of my favorites with you all here on Brown Eyed Baker, so I’m looking for some feedback. What types of recipes would you like to see featured as we head into the holiday season? I’d love for you to take part in the poll below, and feel free to add thoughts and opinions in the comments section! I would especially love to hear about your favorite holiday recipes.
I will leave the poll up for the next week and then start working through some great holiday recipes here on the site, based on your feedback.
Thank you for participating!

I just tried to vote for almost all of them…
I need a super-awesome gingerbread or gingerbread cookie recipe! Something nice and spicy.
I am so predictable : I voted cookies, hoping there will be loads of chocolate in there…
I love giving food as presents so I’d love to see what types of things you make…but of course I love the tranditional cookie stuff as well.
I can’t wait to see your holiday recipes!
I am simply obsessed with cookie baking around this time of year, so bring on the cookie recipes! Also, I would really love to get some ideas for edible gifts, since I’m definitely in the kitchen more often than at the mall…
are you familiar with Lebkuchen? not something you frequently see, wish is a darn shame. so very good. we actually just tried some Marranitos [Mexican molasses pigs] the other day which were surprisingly similar. i’ve got recipes for each but haven’t tried either; wondered if you had any experience…
cheers,
*heather*
it is so difficult for me not to bake and bake and bake for friends and family but this year i am going to make whoopee pies and wrap one or two up for people on my list. i think people can get overwhelmed with holiday baking (and then eating it)
I voted for candy recipes–can’t wait to see all your creations!
Great poll! Anything you make is fabulous!
Enjoy!
Similar to lebkuchen, but–in my opinion–superior, are pfeffernüsse (especially the ones which are covered in a hard white icing and look like this: http://www.austrianshop.com/shop/images/artikel/152_1_thumb_2.jpg – without icing they are too much like Dutch kruidnoten). So if you’re going to continue your German cooking trend, you might try these. Germany has such wonderful holiday recipes and the bakeries are decorated so beautifully.
