Rock n’ Roll Baby Onesie Cookies

I had a really fun order this week for a baby shower. A fellow food blogger from Pittsburgh, Lauren of Burghilicious (check her out – great blog!), was helping to plan a coworker’s baby shower and wanted to order cookies for the event. The twist was that this wasn’t your stereotypical baby shower. The mom-to-be plays guitar in a rock band and didn’t want any frilly, pastel-y, typical baby stuff. The theme of the shower was “Rock n’ Roll Baby” and Lauren asked that I create some onesie cookies to go with the theme. I took rock ‘n roll and ran with it. I created six different designs:
♦ ”The future of Rock”
♦ ”Rock n’ Roll baby”
♦ ”Rockstar”
♦ ”Mommy Rocks!”
♦ ”Let’s Rock” (with a guitar)
♦ ”Born to Rock” (with a guitar)
Since the baby is going to be a boy and they wanted a more “hip” theme to the baby shower, I went with masculine colors – white, black, , grey, blue, and deep purple.
A closer look at some of the cookies:

Hi Avanika,
For the star and the guitar, I printed out outlines that I found online and that I had sized to what I wanted on the cookie. I laid the paper over the cookie for placement and lightly traced over the outline with a toothpick so there was a slight indentation on the cookie. I then went over that in the icing.

Really great! Did you use buttercream icing for the writing or royal icing? Do you ever have the trouble with the black lettering bleeding to the white underneath?

I used royal icing. The bleeding has happened, usually if my black is too thin (too much water). I try to get the icing used for details a good balance between just thin enough to pipe, but stiff enough so it doesn’t bleed.

These are really creative! I am trying my hand at making some and I am having trouble with black lettering bleeding into the white underneath. I waited for white to dry before adding the lettering. Did you use buttercream for the lettering or royal icing?
