Ode to Chocolate and Peanut Butter

Does anyone remember Jif Chocolate Silk Peanut Butter from quite awhile ago (so long ago that this itty bitty picture is the only one I could find!)?
Holy crap it was awesome. I have no clue why they discontinued it. As far as I’m concerned, very little can beat the combination of chocolate and peanut butter. On anything. Anytime, anywhere. I could probably be a legitimate shareholder in Reese’s. Between the Cups and the Pieces, I lose all self control. So it’s really no surprise that when I bake, any excuse I can find to throw together chocolate and peanut butter is a good one. And I’ve sort of gotten the feeling that most of you love it as much as I do. So I thought I’d round up all of my favorite chocolate/peanut butter recipes for you here. My Ode to Chocolate and Peanut Butter… Enjoy!
Chocolate-Covered Peanut Butter Crisp Squares
Peanut butter rice krispies treats, cut into small squares and dipped in chocolate.
Peanut Butter Cup Rice Krispies Treats
More peanut butter and rice krispies goodness here, this time with actual Reese’s cups thrown into the mix. And on a larger scale. Go big or go home, right?
Homemade Snickers bars. But better. Yes you can!
Marshmallow Crunch Brownie Bars
Talk about the most decadent brownies – a fudgy brownie base, topped with marshmallows melted in the oven, then topped with a chocolate, peanut butter and rice krispies layer. These are uber popular and people who eat them become addicted!
Love. Love, love, love. It’s a torte, it’s mousse, it’s cheesecake – it’s all of the above and absolutely fantastic. We lived off of this for days during the great Blizzard of 2010. Not really, because we did have other food, but we chose to eat this for breakfast, lunch, dinner and dessert.
Peanut Butter-Fudge Cheesecake
My 30th birthday present to myself. I didn’t return it
A holiday classic – a sweet peanut butter mixture is rolled into balls and then dipped in chocolate. I might need to go make some of these immediately.
The most popular recipe on the site and for good reason – no raw ingredients, no mixer and no oven needed. Perfect when you need a quick sweet fix, a great recipe for kids, and ideal on a hot summer day when you don’t want to turn on the stove.
Another holiday must. I love making these while watching Rudolph and Charlie Brown Christmas. But don’t be fooled – you can make them year-round. I allow.
Peanut Butter-Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies
Peanut butter, oatmeal and chocolate chips – the trifecta when it comes to cookie awesomeness, and it’s all rolled up into these cookies right here. A definite keeper!
Dark Chocolate Cupcakes with Peanut Butter Frosting
Incredibly rich and moist dark chocolate cupcakes topped with a light, creamy and silky-smooth peanut butter frosting. I always lick the bowl of the frosting. And the spatula. It’s seriously the best frosting you’ll ever taste.
Chocolate Fudge Swirl Peanut Butter Ice Cream
Can’t forget the frozen desserts! The smell of this ice cream while it’s churning is seriously intoxicating. And the ice cream itself is just as lethal.
Your turn! What’s your favorite chocolate/peanut butter recipe?

Chocolate and peanut butter is a classic combination- I don’t know which of these treats is tempting me more. They all look scrumptious!

Hi! Since you are a “Burgher” I thought I would let you know that each year in New Bethlehem PA (Clarion County) there is a peanut butter festival. Unfortunately it was last weekend…. The festival is free and they sell all flavors of peanut butter, several different brands. If you are able, check it out next year, you may find your Jif Silk there! You are right, the chocolate and peanut butter combination can’t be beat! Great recipes!

Michelle,
You can order PB & Co p-butter on Amazon, but you have to order i6 jars! Super Target in the Chicago area carries a few flavors. My daughter-in-law’s friends started
this company in Minneapolis a few years ago. Their peanut butter is to die for.

Pb&Co has some of my all time favorite peanut butters (besides Jif).. i’m from central pa and they have it at our walmart so i’d assume they’d have it at yours too. My favorite is the white chocolate peanut butter. It’s sooo good. Plus you can use it in recipes. I’ve made your peanut butter chocolate chip oatmeal cookies with it before and they turned out great!

Technically, those Snickery Squares have dulce de leche and no peanut butter at all, but they’re still delious. =)

Michelle,
I am a fellow pb & chocolate lover, and I want to share with you a recipe that has followed me from childhood into adulthood. I have brought it out for tailgates, office potlucks and barbecues. Everyone loves it! Ok, here goes:
Megan’s No Bake Special K Peanut Butter Cookies
3 C Special K cereal
3/4 C PB
1/2 C sugar
1/2 C light corn syrup
1/2 tsp vanilla
Combine the sugar, vanilla and syrup in a medium sized pot and bring to a simmer. Add the p.b. and stir til smooth. Add cereal gradually. Drop spoonfuls onto waxed paper. Let set up and enjoy!

Yes! Thank you. I’ve been going crazy trying to find the Jif Chocolate Silk Peanut Butter. No one remembers it. I even tried MaraNatha, but when I got it home, it was watery and nasty, and then I realized it expired in 4 days. Apparently, it’s a very bad seller
It was pulled in 2005. I can’t believe it’s been that long since I’ve had some.

I’ve been reading through your blog for several days now, and you are killing me with all these peanut butter chocolate desserts. I LOVE them. For the past two years I’ve been living in a country where I can’t get Reese’s in any way, shape, or form. I’m moving to Hawaii in a week, and I’m getting a Reese’s as soon as I get to the airport. I can’t wait to try some of these recipes. They look ridiculous.
