The Weekend Dish: 12/4/2010
It’s been a busy week over here in Brown Eyed Baker land. Hopefully you saw the announcement about the new sections of the site – Unplugged and Steel & Ice. They are spin-offs of the “Weekend Fun” section that I have been including at the end of each Weekend Dish post. I have enjoyed writing about life in general and the sports I watch (especially hockey!) and had been craving writing more frequently. So I created some sections where I can do just that, but that won’t interfere with the food. Hopefully you’ll check them out and enjoy reading them!
I can’t believe it’s already December. I feel like I say that at the beginning of every month, but the fall season and the holidays seem to creep up especially fast. I have quite a number of holiday specials and movies already loaded up on the DVR and think I’ll be watching them tomorrow while I do some holiday baking (and fudge-making!). Do you have any kitchen or holiday plans this weekend?
As always, you’ll find a recap of what was posted to the site this week as well as some bookmarked recipes from other blogs. Enjoy! ![]()

What I Bookmarked This Week
Recipes from other blogs that I thought looked especially delicious and that I thought you would like too:
Bacon Chili Cheese Fries (White on Rice Couple)
Holy wow. I would like a big ol’ bowl of this. Every day. For the rest of my life.
Gingerbread, Pumpkin, and Sticky Toffee Trifle (Evil Shenanigans)
I love the individual trifles! This looks so pretty layered and would be the perfect end to a nice lunch or light dinner.
Peppermint Candy Cookies (Bake at 350)
These cookies are gorgeous! As is everything Bridget does, but these are stunning and really caught my eye. So fun for the holidays!
Poppy Chow (Two Peas and Their Pod)
Chocolate-covered popcorn is one of my favorite treats ever, and this recipe throws peanut butter and powdered sugar into the mix. Love.
Swedish Meatballs (Simply Recipes)
I haven’t had Swedish meatballs often, but I love them every time I eat them. Definitely trying this recipe!
Hope everyone has a fabulous weekend!

OMG. Reese’s covered popcorn?! No. I must get thee to Pittsburgh Popcorn Company IMMEDIATELY. I guarantee my pants won’t fit by Friday. But it’ll be worth it.
