Giveaway: Sarris Candies

Sarris Candies and I go waaaaay back. The chocolate company is located in Canonasburg, PA, which is only about 20 miles south of Pittsburgh. As a result, when there were fundraisers in grade school, guess what we sold? Yep, Sarris Candies. On Easter morning, guess what type of chocolate filled my Easter basket? Sarris Candies! Those are just two examples; different varieties of their chocolate and candies are sold at tons of local grocery stores and every so often I’ll treat myself to a package of chocolate-covered pretzel rods. However, my all-time favorite are the peanut butter meltaways (big surprise, right?!). I’m dangerous if I’m left alone with a box to myself. Truth is, Sarris makes so many wonderful things that it would take me all day to ramble on about them. The chocolate is smooth, creamy and completely melts in your mouth. I basically grew up on these chocolates and candies, and it’s still my favorite today. And I want to share some of it with you!

This year I decided that I wasn’t going to do large-scale holiday giveaways. Instead, I wanted to focus on a couple of local Pittsburgh-area companies that I love and share some of their products with you. Check back tomorrow for the second giveaway, but for now, let’s talk CHOCOLATE!

I am giving away the gift package you see pictured below, which is Sarris’ Tier Red collection. In it you will receive a package of chocolate-covered pretzels (the best in the land!), a box of peanut butter meltaways (because I think everyone needs to experience these wonders), and a box of their deluxe assortment (so you can try a little bit of everything). I want to share a little bit of Pittsburgh and one of my most favorite holiday treats with you!

How to Enter

To enter to win the Sarris Candies chocolate gift set above, simply leave a comment and answer the question; “What is your favorite type of chocolate candy?” Maybe it’s peanut butter meltaways, maybe it’s turtles, or maybe it’s M&M’s. Give me the dirt :)

I used to live in Pittsburgh and NEVER failed to order Sarris candy, normally chocolate covered pretzels, when any child was selling. I miss it now that I don’t live in the area anymore. I love lots of candy….pretty much anything salty and sweet like choc and PB….something like a Take 5 or pretzel M&Ms probably win out.

  20. kelly on December 12, 2010 at 10:11 pm

I actually have a recipe for fudge that was made to taste just like peanut butter meltaways from Sarris! But, my favorite would have to be.. Take 5. Salty & sweet.

    Those candies look positively drool-worthy.
I’m kind of a chocolate snob these days. I looove peanut butter cups, since they combine two of my favorite things (chocolate and pb. Mmm mmm good!). While a reese’s used to make me happy enough, they simply can’t compare to the homemade pb cups my mother and I make every Christmas to give away to friends and family and to keep all for ourselves :) They’re especially good after they’ve been in the freezer for a bit. :D

In terms of Christmas candy, I can’t honest say I have a favorite, especially after starting The Chocolate Cult. I try to keep myself open to experiencing everything. That said, I prefer darker chocolates to about 85% after which I like it best if it has something in it to counter the bitterness.
