The Weekend Dish: 1/15/2011

Let’s see a show of hands as to how many of you had a very snowy week this week. What started out as a predicted smallish winter storm here turned into three days of snow and, from the looks of the snow piled on deck railing, at least 8 or 9 inches of pillowy white stuff. Not that I’m complaining – I love the snow. So I was more than happy to enjoy some hibernation time in my favorite fleece sweatpants and watch it fall. While watching a winter wonderland outside my window, I also finally started craving sweets again and whipped up some tasty treats for you!
Now as always, you’ll find a recap of what was posted to the site this week as well as some bookmarked recipes from other blogs. Enjoy! ![]()
On Brown Eyed Baker This Week
Nut Rolls – An ethnic Christmas tradition for many. A wonderful walnut filling is packed into a soft and sweet dough.
Peanut Butter Cup Bars – Quick, easy, no-bake, and they taste just like Reese’s peanut butter cups.
Cashew Chicken – A takeout favorite that is easy to make at home, and absolutely delicious.
Apple & Cheddar Pupcakes for Einstein’s 4th Birthday! – Doggy cupcakes to celebrate my pup’s 4th birthday!

I too was baking sweets again this week – 3 types of cookies for a wedding reception cookie table (a Western PA tradition). Unfortunatley the reception starts in the middle of the Steeler Playoff game
so I am guessing there will be TVs at the reception (another Western PA tradition??).

I definitely think cookie tables are a Western PA tradition. The NY Times actually wrote an article about it last year:

I hope there were TV’s at the reception – what a game to have to miss!!
GO STEELERS!
