The Weekend Dish: 7/16/2011

This week I harvested the first fruits of my little container garden – a sweet banana pepper! It’s been so exciting to watch all of the little things grow. I’ve been enjoying all of the herbs for over a month now, but this is my first actual food to partake in. I think a big sandwich is in order! And hopefully in another week or two my jalapeños will be ready and I can use a fresh one in a batch of salsa. Yum! Also this week… I did my civic duty and reported for jury duty. I was there for all of 3 hours during which I read about half of a book, then everyone was dismissed due to there not being any cases going to jury trial that day. Things I learned from my experience: #1 – I am grateful that I do not have to commute downtown everyday. #2 – I am grateful that I do not have to get dressed up for work everyday. #3 Judges are not immune from the Yinzer accent. #4 – The courthouse (which I had never previously been in) is a really beautiful building; I enjoyed looking around and appreciating the architecture.
As always, you’ll find a recap of what was posted to the site this week as well as some bookmarked recipes from other blogs. Enjoy! ![]()

Hi,
I completely understand the newfound satisfaction with growing your own vegetables. I was well underway, but now my backyard wild bunnies have literally nipped most of my efforts in the bud. Sigh. O well, I hope they made a nice meal out of it.
Anyway, I love this week’s recipes.
