The Weekend Dish: 9/17/2011

Brrr!!! Can you feel that rush of cold air that came blowing through the middle-Eastern part of the country this week? It put me in a total fall mood, and I jumped right in feet-first with pumpkin and making a list of more cookbooks that I want (it’s a never-ending list!). I have some more pumpkin, some maple, and a little salted caramel lined up for next week. I promise it’s going to be a delicious week, so stay tuned! While the cool weather brings some warmer food, it also brings hockey season, woo! I’m off to watch the Penguins practice and scrimmage this morning as they open camp. It’s almost like Christmas! Have a fabulous weekend everyone!

As always, you’ll find a recap of what was posted to the site this week as well as some bookmarked recipes from other blogs. Enjoy!

What I Bookmarked This Week

Recipes from other blogs that I thought looked especially delicious and that I thought you would like too:

Basil Butter Garlic Bread (Two Peas and Their Pod)
I don’t make nearly enough homemade garlic bread, and this one looks to-die-for. Perfect for a warm bowl of pasta this time of year!

Hazelnut Apple Sheet Cake (T and Tea Cake)
This looks like a beautiful fall dessert, and I love even more that it’s an old recipe from grandma!

Praline Cake Squares (She Wears Many Hats)
Oh my goodness. This looks like the ultimate cake dessert. I want. Right now.

Pumpkin Pie Ice Cream (Tracey’s Culinary Adventures)
I just put pumpkin ice cream on my to-make list for the fall, and this sounds like the perfect recipe!

Salted Caramel Frosting (Baked Bree)
This is something I’ve been wanting to try for well over a year, and I think seeing that cupcake is just the push I needed.

Have a delicious weekend!

I love the transition into Fall although out here in AZ it takes a little longer. On the weather last night they said we could see temps. Of 108 and 109 early this week! No, thank you, I’m DONE!
Enjoy your weekend, Michelle and that scrimmage!

Boy does that Basil Garlic Bread look amazing. I want a whole loaf to myself! I want to make that too. I am going to print it and make that this week when I make pasta for dinner. Always looking for a new bread recipe to go with pasta. My norm is my Garlic Bubble Loaf that I have been making for many years. BUT hubby doesn’t like it so we buy some really great local semolina bread to warm for him. My son is the Garlic Bubble maniac. I can go either way. So this will be for us all – we all love garlic. We are all garlic maniacs in this house. Thanks for pointing me to that recipe!

Oooooo!!!!! Go PENS!!! Go STEELERS!!! Go high school football in southwestern PA . . . Friday night lights in Pittsburgh (& surrounding areas) is the best!! I’m there with you, Michelle; fall is in the air & I’m loving it. I have your pumpkin bread baking in the oven right now :)

On the subject of pumpkin, it would be great to have a delicious pumpkin lasagna or even a pumpkin sauce recipe that could be used over pasta. Maybe in your quest for pumpkin recipes you will devise a scrumptious pumpkin sauce :) In the meantime, I can’t wait for salted caramel whatever . . .

    Enjoy your weekend.

So I got my first ice cream maker this weekend and went on a quest for some really good recipes….which brought me to your website. How I missed you during all those searches is beyond me as I’m an avid recipe surfer.

Your recipes and links look fabulous – can’t wait to give some (many) of them a try. You’ve convinced me that the Chocolate Ice Cream will indeed change my life so I’m using that for the maiden voyage of my ice cream maker.

I expect I’ll be spending a lot of time out here getting more familiar with your site. I’ve already seen several cupcake recipes that are “must-try”s. (My co-workers will be thrilled).

    Thanks!
