The Weekend Dish: 7/14/2012
Happy weekend everyone! How were your 4th of July celebrations? Eat anything brand new and delicious?! Hopefully you got to enjoy some extra-long vacation time!
We broke up this week with a little mini field trip and visited Fallingwater – the house that Frank Lloyd Wright designed for the Kaufmann family. It’s about an hour and a half from where we live in Pittsburgh, situated in the Allegheny Mountains. Since we live so close and had never been there, we finally made it a point to visit. We took a one-hour tour and enjoyed exploring the house (and guest house) – it’s beautiful, and it was amazing to think of how innovative so much of the design was for being built in the 1930′s. (Heck, I think it’s innovative even by today’s standards!) It made me think of old-world glamour and how it would have been a perfect setting for James Bond to woo one of his ladies. Have you ever been there? What did you think?
Afterward, we enjoyed a lunch of Sicilian white pizza at Vallozzi’s and then took a spin through DeLallo’s market. I may or may not have purchased half of the bakery case. I love their massive cookies!
