The Weekend Dish: 7/28/2012

Welcome to another weekend! I hope that you all stayed safe during the rash of storms that came barreling through Thursday and Friday! I love a good thunderstorm, but those skies were downright scary on Thursday afternoon! Luckily, Einstein isn’t fazed in the least by loud bangs of thunder, or I would have had a quivering 70-lb golden retriever in my lap for much of the day. Sometimes I wonder if he even hears it; he’s always just maintained his “do-di-do” laid back demeanor in the midst of storms.

I had a lot of fun in the kitchen this week taking advantage of summer produce, bright colors, iced drinks and more. I’m already excited for next week – lots of DIY projects for the kitchen planned! I can’t wait!

As always, you’ll find a recap of what was posted to the site this week as well as some bookmarked recipes from other blogs. Enjoy!

On Brown Eyed Baker This Week

Ice Cream Extravaganza Giveaway! – Earlier this week I gave away an ice cream maker, an awesome scoop and three of my favorite ice cream-related cookbooks! Were you the lucky winner??

Frozen Hot Chocolate – A summertime version of my favorite winter drink.

Blueberry Cobbler – Blueberries are in their peak season right now and this cobbler is a fantastic way to use some up!

Rainbow Ribbon Jello – I took my grandma’s signature ribbon Jello recipe, added a few layers and created a rainbow! Such a fun dessert!

Friday Stuff n’ Things: Thunderstorm Edition – Thunderstorms interrupted regularly scheduled life on Thursday, so instead of a recipe we’re chatting about life – movies, TV, Wii, shopping, and all sorts of fun stuff!

What I Bookmarked This Week

Recipes and posts from other blogs that I thought looked especially delicious and that I thought you would like too:

Biscoff Toffee Ice Cream Cake (Two Peas and Their Pod)
I have been on an ice cream cake kick this summer, and this one looks totally amazing! As always, Maria outdid herself!

Coffee Chocolate Marshmallow Krispies (Shutterbean)
Wow doesn’t even come close to describing these. Totally brilliant.

Peanut Butter Eclair Cake (Plain Chicken)
Chocolate and peanut butter? I will have a piece of you every.single.time. Looks so good!

Pesto Lasagna (The Italian Dish)
I have a ton of basil out on the deck that is begging to be made into pesto. This lasagna looks to be the perfect way to use it!

White Chocolate Cherry Ice Cream with Fudge Ripples (Pennies on a Platter)
I am late to the chocolate/cherry bandwagon, but this ice cream in particular called out to me. I can’t wait to try it.

What was the best thing you ate this week??

Have a delicious weekend!
