The Weekend Dish: 10/20/2012

Happy weekend to you!

I hope you’ve had a fabulous week; it’s been a pretty busy one over here at Brown Eyed Baker headquarters (otherwise known as my kitchen, table and couch). I kicked it off by baking up dozens upon dozens of chocolate chip cookies – four different recipes – and then proceeded to eat my weight in cookies trying to find my favorite recipe. I subjected my family to same cruel and unusual punishment, as well. Be sure to check out the recipes and the results of our throwdown!

To close out the week, I worked with Lindsay from Purr Design to get the new BEB site design up and running. We’re still knocking out a few kinks and odds and ends, but we’re 95% there! Once we put the finishing touches on everything I’ll give you a proper tour of all the new features. In the meantime, though, I invite you to take a look around and see what you think!

25 Halloween Recipes – A roundup of incredibly creative and delicious Halloween recipes from around the web!

Alton Brown’s “The Chewy” Chocolate Chip Cookie – One of the contenders in my “Chocolate Chip Cookie Throwdown”, a thick and chewy chocolate chip cookie that came in 2nd place!

Cook’s Illustrated Perfect Chocolate Chip Cookies – Another entry for the throwdown, these cookies include browned butter and dark brown sugar, for a more toffee-like flavor.

The New York Times Chocolate Chip Cookies – The winner of my Chocolate Chip Throwdown – these are massive cookies that include dark chocolate and sea salt.

A Chocolate Chip Cookie Throwdown! – A recap of the informal chocolate chip cookie competition I held between three new recipes and an old favorite. I put them up to the test and had my family nail down a winner.

Salted Caramel Apple Cheesecake Dip – A cheesecake dip with layers of salted caramel sauce, toffee pieces and mini chocolate chips. Eating apples never sounded so good!

      Hi Arlene, That is one function that will be live within the next day or two. We’re working with an external company who provides the service, and they will have it up and running on Monday or Tuesday. Stay tuned!
