The Weekend Dish 12/29/2012

Happy Saturday! I’ve always loved the week between Christmas and New Year’s; as a kid, it meant some much-needed time away from school to assemble and play with my new Christmas toys. As an adult, it’s wonderful to have some much-needed down time away from work to take a deep breath and enjoy life at a slower pace. Even better if that time is accompanied by a pretty snowfall, time with family and lots of cookies. That’s exactly what I’ve been doing this week, and I hope you’ve had the opportunity to do the same!
As always, you’ll find a recap of what was posted to the site this week as well as some bookmarked recipes from other blogs. Enjoy!

What I Bookmarked This Week
Recipes and posts from other blogs that I thought looked especially delicious and that I thought you would like, too:
Candy Man’s Billion Dollar Candy Bar (Twirl and Taste)
This looks a lot like the homemade Snickers bars that I made last year, with a few different spins. One can never have enough Snickers!
Cherry Cheesecake Dip (The Oxford Place Diaries)
This is a totally genius dip… so quick and easy, with all of the wonderful flavors of a cherry cheesecake. I want to make this for dinner.
Chocolate Salted-Caramel Mini Cupcakes (Bake or Bread)
Oooh, chocolate cupcakes with salted caramel oozing out of the middle and topped with rich chocolate frosting… sign me up!
French Breakfast Donuts (Camille Styles)
These donuts look both rustic and perfectly beautiful all at the same time. They would make a fabulous weekend breakfast.
Spinach Ranch Dip (What’s Cookin, Chicago?)
I haven’t seen a cold spinach dip in year, and my eyes popped when I saw this one. Definitely a good recipe to have in your arsenal.
What was the best thing you ate this week??
Have a delicious weekend!

Best thing I ate was peppermint nightie-nights! Or maybe chocolate mint bars. Or mincemeat bars. Or sugar cookies….hard to choose in the week of Christmas cookies!

Einstein has the same look on his face as my Hadley did when I put the santa hat on her. Adorable, in a resigned sort of way, and you just know they’re thinking ‘when is mom going to take off this stupid hat?’

This week is a great time of year. There’s really no other time we are free to relax and have fun for such an extended period of time. Do you work outside of doing the blog?
