The Weekend Dish 8/24/2013

Happy Saturday to you! I know the Weekend Dish has been on hiatus the last couple of weekends due to my traveling, but it’s back, chock full of links I think you’re going to love! Needless to say, the last couple of weeks have been a whirlwind for me. I spent all of last week relaxing on the beach, and, most importantly, getting married! I’m back home now, working on getting into a routine. That may prove to take a little longer than usual since we just brought home a new puppy yesterday! Einstein got a new Golden Retriever brother; they are getting acquainted, we’re working on potty training, and there’s never a dull moment in our house :)  What are you up to this weekend?!

As always, you’ll find a recap of what was posted to the site this week as well as some bookmarked recipes from other blogs. Enjoy!

On Brown Eyed Baker This Week

Ultimate Chocolate Cupcakes – If you love chocolate, these cupcakes are going to be your new best friend. A super moist chocolate cupcake with a chocolate ganache baked right into the center, and topped with smooth, glossy chocolate frosting.

Mango-Banana Smoothie – I fell in love with mangoes this summer and just love their mellow flavor in this fantastic smoothie.

Zucchini-Banana Bread – If your garden is bursting with zucchini, this bread is the perfect remedy!

Peach Crumble Pie – Summer isn’t summer without a peach pie, right?! I love this crumb topping; simple and delicious.

What I Bookmarked This Week

Recipes and posts from other blogs that I thought looked especially delicious and that I thought you would like, too:

Bacon Pimento Macaroni and Cheese (Tide and Thyme)
Homemade mac and cheese is a total weakness of mine, and pimentos and bacon sound fantastic!

Cannoli Ice Cream (Cooking Classy)
This has got to be some of the most beautiful ice cream I’ve ever seen. I have no doubt it tastes every bit as good as it looks.

Corn Pop Treats (Table for Two)
Ahh, the traditional Rice Krispies Treats recipe made with Corn Pops! Genius!

Hatch Chile and Bacon Stovetop Mac & Cheese (Confections of a Foodie Bride)
One can never have enough macaroni and cheese recipes, right?! I’ve seen hatch chile recipes everywhere lately; I have to try one while they’re in season!

S’mores Cheesecake (Cookies and Cups)
Everything wonderful about s’mores in a slice of cheesecake?? Sign me up!

What was the best thing you ate this week??

Have a delicious weekend!

Yeah! It’s so nice to have your Week-end dish back! Hoe things have settled down a bit for you. Best thing I ate this week is kale salad – a recipe my daughter gave me.

I love your blog and your recipes. However, I think its really sad you had to adopt a new puppy when there are SO many dogs on death row in shelters. :(

Just curious…did you “adopt” your Cavachon puppy from a shelter? You metioned on your site that you decided you wanted this specific designer breed but I know such dogs, especially puppies, are next to impossible to find in shelters.

Congratulations on the marriage and the beautiful rainbow! Good luck with the new puppy, but where’s the pics?? :) And personally, I think it’s wonderful you adopted a new puppy. Every dog saved is a beautiful thing!

You’re not “saving” a dog if you buy it from a breeder or pet store (puppy mill).

OMG! Definitely the Ultimate Chocolate Cupcakes. I made those twice since you posted them. Both for birthdays. I got smart the second time and doubled the recipe so I could have some for home. Chocolate Heaven.

    Hello,
I subscribe to your blog and noticed that the most emailed recipe the week of 08/24/2013 was for Chipotle Chicken and Corn Chowder. When I read your recipe post, I was surprised to see that you copied MY RECIPE, almost word for word, and then you took credit for the recipe!
I created this recipe when the one I found on the internet was too fattening. I don’t mind somebody copying my recipe but I would like credit for it.
After I made it a few times, I then posted the recipe on Youtube in February and switched out olive oil for butter.

So, if you created your recipe from one you found on the Internet, why might it not be possible for anyone else to do exactly the same thing? There are thousands and thousands of recipes floating around the Internet that seem to be clones or close clones of others but that doesn’t mean there is but one originator. If a recipe has been published in a copywritten book, then credit is required. If not, there is no “ownership” of any recipe.
