The Weekend Dish: 2/1/2014

Happy, happy weekend!

I usually feel like the weeks flutter by, but surprisingly, I feel like last Saturday was eons ago. We’ve been playing in the snow here, with nothing terribly new to report. Are you geared up for the Super Bowl tomorrow? I still need to finalize my snack menu! Today I’m baking up a classic cake for my father-in-law’s birthday celebration tomorrow; I hope he enjoys it!

    It is great to wake up in Saturday morning seeing your weekend dish update. As usual, th dogs are cute. We are very excited for tomorrow’s game because we are Seahawks’ fans. We are so ready to celebrate the win ( I hope so). Have a great day.

    I made Smitten Kitchen’s Blueberry Crumb Bars which I love, using Bing cherries instead – and I added a tsp. of cinnamon to the crumb mixture. http://smittenkitchen.com/blog/2008/07/blueberry-crumb-bars/ My niece had an appointment for wedding dress shopping & I knew it would be a marathon. The bars were a hit & Cate looked beautiful in every dress she tried.

    My family and friends were impressed with the spread I put out thanks to so many of your recipes. Every thing turned out great. As I was grocery shopping a lady that was shopping also asked what I was making and I shared some of the items and told her about you and your delicious recipes. I even gave her a copy of one of the recipes so that she could look you up. Hopefully, you have gained another fan.
