The Weekend Dish: 3/8/2014

Happy Saturday to you!

I hope you had a great week and that your weekend is off to a fantastic start. Yesterday actually felt spring-ish for the first time here; it was awesome walking to the mailbox in just a sweatshirt, not all bundled up and my face half frozen by the time I got back. I love the snow, but I also love seasons, so I’m ready to usher in spring. I am more than ready to turn that clock ahead tonight; more daylight in the evening is one of my favorite things about the summer. Bring it!

As always, you’ll find a recap of what was posted to the site this week as well as some bookmarked recipes from other blogs. Enjoy!

On Brown Eyed Baker This Week

Morning Glory Muffins – Fantastic muffins that make it feel like you’re eating carrot cake for breakfast!

Twix [Candy Bar] Tart – A shortbread crust, chewy caramel and milk chocolate topping that is reminiscent of a Twix candy bar.

Homemade Fish Sticks with Tartar Sauce – Frozen, boxed fish sticks don’t hold a stick to the fresh, homemade version!

What I Bookmarked This Week

Recipes and posts from other blogs that I thought looked especially delicious and that I thought you would like, too:

Bailey’s Salted Caramel Chocolate Pie (She Wears Many Hats)
Baileys Irish Cream, salted caramel and chocolate all in one pie? Heaven!

Fried Rice (Gimme Some Oven)
I love, love, love fried rice, but have never had a good batch at home. I can’t wait to try this!

Homemade Cheez-Its (Wheel N Deal Mama)
YES! I bet the homemade version is even more addictive than the store-bought ones.

Morning Glory Scones (Girl Versus Dough)
I was so excited to see these the same week that I made the muffin version. I love scones, so I can only imagine how amazing these are.

Nutter Butter Pie (Cookies and Cups)
Just hand me this pie plate and a fork. No sharing!

What was the best thing you ate this week??

Have a delicious weekend!

made your PACZKI from the recipe you posted last week. used my homemade raspberry jam as the filing. everyone loved them!!! this is a great response considering I am from an area where there is a large polish population and other eastern Europeans. we actually celebrate Pulaski day here.I have never really worked in yeast before(time and intimidation). I have a little more confidence to forge ahead! thank you!

The best thing I ate this week was a bowl of spaghetti squash topped with red sauce, broiled salmon and calamari. Basically, I threw together a bunch of leftovers to use them up, but it was so much better than I expected!

The best thing I baked and ate this week is Seeded Sourdough Bread. The crust was crispy, crackly, crunchy while the crumb was soft and tender. So good with fresh hand turned butter! It’s Lent and I gave up eating betw. meals! I was dying while this bread was cooling before dinner!
Love your blog and read you daily.

Thanks so much for the scones shout-out! I really need to try your muffins next because I can’t get enough morning glory goodness. :)
