The Weekend Dish: 4/12/2014

Happy Saturday!

I hope you had a fabulous week and are ready to enjoy some relaxing down time. We have some car shopping planned for today, and tomorrow I have a baby shower for an old friend. It’s been so long since I’ve been to a shower, I don’t know what to do with myself! The weather should be pretty nice here, so I might be able to bust out a cute spring dress!

As always, you’ll find a recap of what was posted to the site this week as well as some bookmarked recipes from other blogs. Enjoy!

On Brown Eyed Baker This Week

Oatmeal Cream Pies – A recreation of a childhood favorite – perfectly soft and chewy with a cream cheese filling.

Homemade Potato and Cheese Pierogi – A little bit of an afternoon project, but these homemade pierogi are totally worth the effort!

Bacon and Cheddar Beer Bread – Bacon, cheese, beer and bread… basically, a slice of heaven.

Snickers Cheesecake – A tall and creamy cheesecake loaded with chunks of Snickers bars.

What I Bookmarked This Week

Recipes and posts from other blogs that I thought looked especially delicious and that I thought you would like, too:

Glazed Peanut Butter and Jelly Doughnuts (Half Baked Harvest)
If my 5-year-old self would have seen these, I guarantee I would have refused to eat anything else for at least the next five years.

Loaded Scalloped Sweet Potato Casserole (Family Fresh Cooking)
One of the most beautiful casseroles I’ve seen! I love scalloped sweet potatoes.

Punch Bowl Cake (Confessions of a Cookbook Queen)
I’ve already put this on the Easter menu! I love spring desserts that are light and fresh and can serve a crowd; this one certainly fits the bill.

Sweet Potato, Kale and Sausage Bake with White Cheese Sauce (Pinch of Yum)
I love that you could make this a side dish or an entire meal. So hearty!

Sweet Potato Tater Tots with Sriracha Aioli (Climbing Grier Mountain)
I must have sweet potatoes on the brain :)  I can’t turn down tater tots or a spicy sauce, so bring ‘em on!

Have a delicious weekend!

Just wanted to let you know how much I enjoy your posts and look forward to seeing the pictures of your two pups. So sorry to hear about Einsteins’ ear, but most likely he’ll be good as new in no time. If you have a minute, do you have any recommendations for a non-traditional but yummy Easter dessert? I’m having folks over for dinner and am thinking of serving something different. Would love some new ideas. Keep up the good work BEB!
    Cheers!

Hi Jenny, That’s a tough one, I have a ton of desserts on here, and certainly a vast majority are not Easter-specific. Feel free to browse through the recipe index to see if anything pops out at you! http://www.browneyedbaker.com/recipe-index/

I’m so glad you like sweet potatoes too. The scalloped potatoes remind me of Sweet Potato Nachos from Two Peas. If you haven’t seen them, take a look. They were scrumptuous! Have a sunny weekend.

Thank you so much for the Weekend dish. I’ve been missing them. Also, i have an order for orange cupcakes with raspberry frosting. They were very suspacific about having raspberry extract, not preserves, so if you could post a recipe, well thank you!
