Cookies for the Super Bowl
Because the Steelers are headed to their 3rd Super Bowl in six years…
Because I bleed Black and Gold…
And because I love cookies…
Dessert first. I will be sharing a lot of great Super Bowl party menu items over the next two weeks, but first let’s do cookies. Here are three football-themed cookies that would be perfect to serve at your Super Bowl party:
1. Football Sugar Cookies
A football cookie cutter is used to make these basic football sugar cookies. Decorate them with your team’s colors!
2. Pittsburgh Steelers Logo Cookies
I bought a Steelers cookie mold on eBay a few years ago, which came in handy for these logo cookies. I used royal icing for everything except for ‘Steelers’ which I pressed out of black fondant.
3. Pittsburgh Steelers Jersey Cookies
I used a jersey cookie cutter to make these cookies and customize them with Steelers colors and player names and numbers.
Steelers vs. Packers in two weeks…
HERE WE GO, STEELERS, HERE WE GO!!
All i can say is your super bowl cookies are so cute!!!! im gonna get in the kitchen and try to cook some. Thks so much for your sharing!
I have a party coming up for my son who is a HUGE steelers fan. Lets see how i go and fingers crossed i can do them justice!
Love the site.
Go the Steelers :) Was a great game back then. . I really like the miniature football cookies, so cute, i tried them a few weeks back and came back to this post to try and emulate them. Thanks again.
jamey, we are going strong, offense has scored at least 20 points in the past seven games. and will sure be victorious over Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field today. winks. . .
How are the steelers doing this year?
When the Steelers won in ’06 I made Cocoa Krispies in the shape of footballs and piped on gold/yellow white chocolate with a border and laces. Everyone loved them. Your cookies are so cute, GO STEELERS!!!!!!
Wishing we had a Super Bowl here in SA, just for these cookies!
GO STEELERS!! Those cookies are absolutely beautiful and I love your attention to detail. Let’s hope black and gold is victorious!
I couldn’t find a jersey but I did find a football helmet and I plan on making those for our black and gold Super Bowl party. Also, since you are such a Steelers fan, I wanted to share with you my post about the Steelers party tie I made my dog (completely crazy I know)
http://keller-creative.blogspot.com/2011/01/copes-party-tie.html
Love the cookies–they’d be a hit at any Super Bowl party for sure!!! :-) Wish I had the patience to do something like that haha!
My husband is a HUGE Steelers fan and so we are having a Black & Gold Super Bowl Party. I have Steelers cupcake picks leftover from his grooms cake but now I DEFINITELY need to make these cookies. I can’t wait to see what else you come up with for the big day.
Go Steelers, beat Packers! Oh and the cookies look great.
I love the STEELERS and I love your recipes and might have to make some just to annoy my Packers fan daughter! She LOVES cookies and plans to break her lo-carb diet for Super Bowl and these would just drive her CRAZY!!! LOL!
These are adorable!
Cookies look super awesome!
Neato!
Go Steelers!! I can’t wait to see them win! SUCH a big fan of the Steelers, love your cookies they are adorable!
Adorable!! Congrats on being selected Food Buzz Top 9!! Well deserved!!
I just made Steeler cookies too and found your post when searching for a Steelers cookie cutter. I wish I could find one now! Love your other ideas too and will definitely be trying some football and jersey cookies for the big game. Go Steelers!
Congrats on today’s Top 9 ! The cookies are adorable. It looks like that is going to be one heck of a Super Bowl party at your place. Best of luck to the Steelers!
Go Steelers! If my Cardinals can’t be there at least it’s not the Jets!
Congrats on making the top 9… again!
These cookies are just too cute!
Woah!! I can’t wait to make the superbowl cookies. You have really good piping skills. The lines are so precise! Thanks for sharing.
Love these cookies!
Go Stillers!
I’m working on some Steeler cookies as well, using my Cricut Cake. I need to get enough done to send to our Pittsburgh family, while we enjoy ours in IL!
Bet you’re going to have an awesome Superbowl party! I’ll have to get some football cookie cutters……Good luck to your team, Michelle!
Your cookies are so perfect. You are an inspiration to me – I must try my hand at decorating my cookies. I haven’t been too successful doing this yet, but I’m going to keep trying.
Thanks for inspiring, oh and “Go Team”!
Joanne
I made the jersey and football cookies for the playoff game against the Ravens! They got GREAT reviews. Some people actually didn’t want to eat they because they were so pretty!
I usually do my menu based on the city where the game is being played. It usually gives you a new dish and makes you feel like you are there! LOL! My favorite was Miami, we had mojitos and cuban sandwiches……..and I found GREAT recipes for both! This year, of course, will be Tex Mex fo Dallas!
GO STEELERS!
I’m from New England and we’re still licking our wounds. But these cookies could cheer me up. They’re great. They’d be a hit at any superbowl party!
I think you should offer some packer recipes and treats because some of your readers are from the frozen tundra and have to make some wonderful treats for the big Packer win next Saturday! ;) Enjoy the game!
I thought of you as I watched the Steelers accept the conference trophy on Sunday. These cookies are the perfect way to celebrate!
I know you don’t know me & I don’t really know you, but I TOTALLY thought of you when the Steelers won! I knew you’d be super excited and I thought of your Steeler cookies. We have a Super Bowl party every year and I make a stadium cake decorated with the team colors.
Looks like I’ll be using black, gold, yellow, and green M&M’s this year. ;o)
Just discovered your site this weekend. Love your writing style. The photos are amazing! Will you show us a Terrible Towel cookie?
Wish I was back in PGH. so I can celebrate withall these Steeler fans!

You are a true fan and the cookies are really cute. Looking forward to the rest of your party picks.
I can imagine my brother’s friends trying to hike your football cookies into their mouths after several Super Bowl drinks. Goodness, the mess they would make!
These are very cute cookies. But just imagine the cute little cheeseheads you could make if you were rooting for the team that will win the Superbowl. It’s time for the Lombardi trophy to visit it’s home. But, have an enjoyable time!

If these cookies weren’t so darn cute, I’d be mad. Patriots got robbed!!!!
I wanted to make Chicago Bears cookies, but I guess I’ll have to wait till next year, which is the chant of Chicago sport fans, except for Blackhawks fans;( I’ll be making the football cookies
I thought of you yesterday when the Steelers won! I know how you feel, I’m a huge Saints fan and last season was surreal to say the least. Congrats for your team! The cookies are terrific!
So beautiful these cookies. They look tasty, delicious, yummyyyy!!!
Congrats to the Steelers! You must be soooo stoked!
We’re not huge football fans, but if we were, this is our team of choice this year! I’m actually an Indiana girl, so I love me my Colts! :) But since the hubster hails from PA, the Steelers are always my second choice!
Love the cookies! Very well done, and the footballs are probably my favorite! So cute!
I will try this…but mine will be green and gold, sporting names such as RODGERS, MATTHEWS, WILLIAMS, DRIVER, HAWK, RAJI, WOODSON, and JENNINGS. Thanks for the idea, and good luck to your team. =) Go Pack!
Great cookies! Good luck to your team!
Haha, those are awesome! Will definitely have to make some of those for my dad, but before the Super Bowl, because he got tickets and is going. So excited haha.
All the recipes you posted are absolutely adorable, and I love your blog!
Congratulations on your team, my team the Patriots sadly were out a little earlier.
You are so talented, I wouldn’t begin to be able to make and decorate these cookies, but I just love the pictures. Keep up the good work!!!
Love your sit, but c’mon, how ’bout my Packers, eh?
I resisting the urge to hurl Steelers insults… but you DID beat the Jets, and that was appreciated. The Pats are our team… you can understand our pain :) But you have to respect those who bleed the colors (blue, red and silver; black and gold respectively…) so I say a whole-hearted congratulations, and I love your dessert ideas! I would just change the color scheme… for next year :)
Nothing against you (I still LOVE your baking!) but I hate the Steelers :) I think it stems from my hatred of Pitt college basketball. But the cookies look great ;)
I was so hoping the Bears would make it to the Super Bowl, I was dying to make some Chicago Bears cookies. Guess it will just be footballs this year! Your cookies are adorable, love them!
All the cookies are so cute! Love it.
Those cookie are super cute! Its gonna be a great super bowl!
Go Steelers! Penny, city chicken is such a good idea!
congratulations to the steelers!
how exciting for you!! your cookies look fabulous!
all the best!!
I must tell you (because I love your post) ((and because I’m not ashamed of making a fool of myself!)), my twin sister is SO into the Steelers (((and I’m a gay boy into baking… ya think something went wrong?!?))) and every time she talks about the Steelers I have to roll my eyes. I am so NOT into football, so much so that when I first began reading your post and saw “Pittsburgh Steelers Jersey Cookies” I thought to myself – “How silly! Pittsburgh is in PA, not NJ!”
Anyway, now that I got that off my chest, just wanted you to know how great your post is… you are very creative and inspiring.
I love your cookies! They are fantastic! I am so excited we’re going to the Super Bowl again!
I couldn’t wait to post to you with the STEELERS going to the SUPER BOWL! The cookies look great and the footballs look more my ability at best. I had thought about cookie dough thru a ricer somehow to make Troy’s hair…naaa.
(I am going to mention here in time to research if needed that City Chicken will be on my menu.I was trying to think of foods that say Pittsburgh area to me.That is a regional food and perfect for a party. Meat on a stick! My family always uses veal and pork.)
Ha! This made me laugh. I love it! Being over the other side of the pond I’ll have no cause for making Superbowl cookies but I love your devotion!
Adorable! Congrats to your team!
