Your super mario birthday cake is wonderful! My mother has the same obsession with Mario as a lot of people maybe even a bit more. She has everything out there mario and I know that she would really enjoy this cake. Do you give out the recipe for this cake or maybe some helpfull tips? I would really appreciate it!

Hi Noel, there is no real recipe (they are yellow and chocolate cakes). For the design, I used all fondant and used screen captures from the game as inspiration for the layout. I basically just tried to incorporate as many elements as I could.

Hello,
You are in London?
I am in Brazil. I want to place an order online of cake to offer a birthday that is there.
Could you give me a referral?
I am very grateful
Tania

Hi Jordan, Just make sure you level the cakes so the tops are completely level – that way when they are stacked they won’t be rounded off.

Hi Jamie, I use store-bought fondant, either Wilton or Satin Ice.

What do you use to tint your fondant? I’ve tried using the Wilton tinting gels, but the colors ALWAYS come out pastel… never bright or bold like I want…

Hi Brandi, I do use the Wilton gels, but if you want bright and bold you need to use A LOT, or in those cases (for reds, blacks, bright neon, etc.) I buy the pre-colored fondant. I have heard that AmeriColor gels produce better colors than Wilton, you may want to give them a try. I am planning to replace my Wilton colors with those as they run out.

Love your website and recipes. What is your recipe for a tiered yellow cake? From what I have red you should not double a 9inch recipe due to the proportions of baking powder differ as the cake gets large. Thanks for your help John
