Friday Things
1. My sister found this little pint-sized adirondack chair at Bed, Bath & Beyond and bought it for Joseph… he loves having his own chair for lounging on the deck :) In other news, he has (mostly) mastered using a fork this week! We’re still working on the spoon – scooping food is harder than stabbing at food ;-)
2. I got the results back from my 3-hour glucose test last week and I PASSED! Whew! I was so relieved!
3. Can you believe that I JUST tried salt and vinegar potato chips for the first time last week? I saw a super small snack bag in the check out line and decided to give them a try… I didn’t like them :( Way too pungent for me!
4. Have you heard that Nintendo is releasing a miniature NES system with 30 built-in games? The only one missing that I would have considered to be a must is Tetris, but totally putting this on my Christmas list!
5. So apparently you can go swimming in a pool of sprinkles at the Museum of Ice Cream in New York. Yes, please!
6. Oh my gosh, I’m totally addicted to this Instagram account with pictures of the baby and dogs napping together. So adorable!
7. Totally loving the Conde Nast Traveler video about why you should visit Pittsburgh ASAP this year. I can’t ever get enough of national love for my hometown!
8. A couple of weeks ago I asked you about Jeni’s ice cream, and this past Friday I had to make a quick stop at Whole Foods (they don’t carry it at my regular grocery store) and saw it on sale there, so I picked up a pint of brambleberry crisp. Aaaaaaand it’s amazing!
9. A couple of weeks ago we had the opportunity to get our photos taken with the Stanley Cup! There was about a 2-hour wait, but Joseph was such an awesome trooper. Hopefully he’ll appreciate the pictures when he’s older :)
10. TGIF! Einstein puts up with a lot in sharing a house with a toddler ;-)
I totally want that chair for my kid! I can’t find it on the BB&B website. I must make a trip later this week. The Nintendo! My husband has something similar to it except it also contains SNES games. We’re going to host Friendsgiving (I know way too early to be thinking about Thanksgiving right?!) and bust it for everyone. I feel like our carpel tunnel is going to be acting up afterwards but how fun and nostalgic!
Please check on the origin of Birds Eye veggies. They are not from USA. When calling the company, they won’t answer the question when you ask where their veggies are grown. Research shows they are grown in China. Methods and standards are much different there. I no longer use their products. Please check on it.
I like salt and vinegar chips, but only in small doses. I would recommend the Utz Kettle Classics Maui BBQ chips. They are like a cross between a salt and vinegar chip and a BBQ chip. They are really good and the BBQ flavor cuts the vinegary taste.
That’s great you passed the glucose test! How exciting that Joseph’s learning to use a fork! I don’t like the salt and vinegar chips either, but 2 of my kids absolutely love them!
Joseph is so freakin’ adorable!!
Joseph looks like such a happy little fella. How neat getting the picture with the Stanley cup! Love Joseph’s little chair. I know that must have been such a relief when you heard you passed the glucose test. Einstein is such a beautiful dog. Have a wonderful weekend and if it’s like it is here… try to STAY COOL!
I hadn’t heard of the Nintendo system but was totally hopefull that they would jump on that bandwagon that the other systems started a couple of years ago. Thanks for the news!! The other game that I would add to their list is Paperboy!! I just loved seeing and hearing the glass break when I hit a window. ?
Oh my gosh, Paperboy was awesome! I spent SO MUCH time playing it! Also, T&C Surf Design!
Joseph is so cute in his own little chair! We had a couple of them when my nieces and nephews were toddlers and they loved them. That instagram account – is too cute! Congrats on passing the glucose test and great pic with Joseph and The Cup!. Einstein may put up with a lot but he looks rested and happy:)
That video of Pittsburgh is great! Love it. While I do like salt & vinegar chips, I can only eat them in measured doses for the reason you state. And, of course some brands are better than others. Have you ever tried dill pickle chips? Even better than salt & vinegar, and so good ON sandwiches, like a good Pittsburgh chipped ham or jumbo sandwich :)) YUM!
I’ve been following your blog for awhile now and this post is just full of too much adorable things that I have to comment! Joseph is awesomely so cute!
I also love your blog overall. It is full of so many helpful tips to both experienced and non-experienced bakers (like me). Thank you for creating this :)
Much love.
I like salt and vinegar potato chips, but only in real small doses! They are really, really pungent!
I LOVE Joseph’s little chair! He really looks happy about it, too! He’s a big boy in his own little chair!
So glad you passed your glucose tolerance test – I know that is a big relief!
Love that picture with the Stanley Cup – I know he’ll treasure that later, as will you all!
Einstein is really gonna be busy with TWO youngin’s to watch over!
Have a great weekend, girl! It’s a scorcher here in Arkansas – humidity so high you can hardly breathe! We plan on staying where it’s cool this weekend!
Oh, I love salt and vinegar chips! One of my faves!
I did hear about the new NES system! Definitely on my list to get too. Would be so fun. Such a throwback!
If you thought that Jeni’s Ice Cream is good now, imagine how good it was before they had the listeria scare and changed everything. :P
Oh really?! What did they change?
The word is that they went from producing the ice cream themselves to having a third party producer handle that for safety purposes. But they also changed some of their ingredients to have a safer food chain with more accountability, which of course affected the flavor, but more so than I would have expected. Very necessary steps, but unfortunately none of the flavors I’ve tried since taste the same. Between their prices and the change in flavors, I just don’t find Jeni’s to be worth it any more. :/
