Friday Things
1. Puppy face! He might be eight months old and sometimes have the look of a grown-up dog, but there’s no doubt that Duke is still ALL puppy.
2. Let’s talk jeans… do you have a favorite brand? I have the hardest time buying jeans! I’m short (5’1) and pear-shaped and, well, jeans shopping is a total struggle. I’ve worn JCrew jeans for a long time, but it seems that they’ve changed the cut recently. I’m open to suggestions!
3. My Chief Culinary Consultant and I watched all two seasons of House of Cards in 10 days. It totally lived up to all of the hype, and now I can’t wait for the next season to start! If you haven’t checked it out yet, clear your schedule for the next week, because once you start, you won’t be able to stop!
4. Have I ever told you about my favorite, easiest-most-delicious appetizer? It’s this easy… 1 jar of Harry & David Onion & Pepper Relish (original recipe) + 2 blocks of cream cheese. Stir together and dip, dip, dip! I always keep jars in the pantry, and we even packed them for vacation last year for a quick snack. Totally addicting! The flat pretzel crisps are our favorite thing to dip with, but tortilla chips are awesome too.
5. So true:
[via Facebook]
6. Aaaaaand another tear-inducing dog commercial:
I snuggled Einstein so hard after watching that one!
7. My 10-inch cast iron skillet has finally reached rock star status. It is seasoned so well at this point that I can (and do) cook things like eggs and cheesy omelets in it without any greasing whatsoever, and they slide right out on a spatula. A few people have asked how I clean it; I used this tutorial as a starting point. I let the pan cool after using it, then add an equal amount of kosher salt and vegetable oil to the pan. I use this cast iron scrub brush to scrub the pan, ensuring that any stuck-on pieces are pulled up. Once the surface is smooth, I use a couple of paper towels to wipe out the pan, making sure that all of the salt is completely wiped out, then I put it away. That’s it! NO water. NO soap. No drying over heat or brushing on more oil.
8. I’m not planning a garden for this year, but this square foot gardening layout that Shawnda put together is totally inspiring!
9. I’ve been tossing around the idea of taking up knitting. I’ve known how to crochet since I was little (thanks to my grandma!) and I can make a mean blanket, but it seems like you can do a lot more with patterns for things like hats, scarves, etc. with knitting. It’s always intimidated me because of using two needles; how much of a jump is it from crochet?
10. TGIF! We’ve got some brotherly love going on!
Another vote for Gap Curvy jeans in ankle! I have several different washes – they are by far my favorite!
What a great insight! He might only be here for a part of your life but for him you are his whole life. I just gotta hug my lab more and more. Thanks for making me aware.
Im short and have a bigger butt and thighs but i love the DKNY jeans!! Never before have I found jeans that don’t get baggy after a few wears and washes. I highly recommend them!
If you can crochet, you can knit! Just remember when you’re starting off that it may be slow-going, but I’m sure it was that way when you started to crochet too. Also, remember to keep loose! My mother taught me by saying the biggest problem beginning knitters and crocheters make is trying to get the stitches tight and even … and then they’re too tight and it gets frustrating. Youtube videos are a wonderful resource if you don’t have someone close at hand to help you out.
I am 5’4″ and have always had a hard time finding jeans that fit. If they fit in my hips, they were too big in my waist, and vic versa…also they were always way too long. After years of searching I have found Ann Taylor jeans. They have several fits but the curvy fit works the best for me. They have them in a short length too so now my jeans look really nice, I don’t have to go get them hemmed anymore!! I also discovered Old Navy jeans last summer. I got the “Rock Star” (straight leg, skinny jeans) style in a size 6 (usually I am a size 4 in jeans) and these fit so great!! I got them in short and the length is perfect and the price was unbeatable!!!!!
My favorite jeans are Levi’s Short Defined Waist. They are awesome!!
Michelle, Did you know there is a knitting, crochet show coming to the North HIlls next weekend ? It is at the Four Points Sheraton in Mars on March 14, 15, and 16. Will feature workshops, vendors and celebrity crafters. Event featured in todays edition of Tribune Review. Also http://www.pghknitandcrochet.com. I can crochet, quilt, and a seamstress and tailor, but have a mental block with knitting !
Hi Nancy, I didn’t hear, thank you for the heads up!
Personally, I love my 7 jeans (I try to find them on sale so I’m not paying $200 for jeans). Plus their straighter cuts are the perfect length so you don’t have to hem them!
Love to the snuggly dogs. <3 <3 <3
Back when I was skinny :) I wore Ralph Lauren jeans and LOVED them. I am very pear shaped and they fit so well; enough room in the thighs and rear without being too low cut in the back or too high cut in the front. They also held up beautifully, and I wash my jeans every time I wear them (I’ve heard recently that this is unusual, so thought I would mention it). Oh, and the lengths are awesome, too. Good luck in your quest – finding new jean brands is hard!
No.5 and the car ad really resonated with me. My beloved 12 yr old cat died 4 weeks ago tomorrow and I am still grieving…I always thought because he was so trouble free that he would live to the high teens like some do. Number 5 reminded me I was his whole life (and it was a good one) and the car one reminded me of his life as he grew up with me. He got spoiled with prawns (5-6 large ones to himself) occasionally and lots of brushes and hugs and cuddles. Your dogs are gorgeous and I hope they are with you for many years to come…they are obviously much loved and well taken care of.
Love the dog pictures! They are so sweet curled up together. I knit, never really learned to crochet, so I think it is super easy! Jeans are always a challenge for us shorter girls! I just bought a pair at Ann Taylor Loft, and also do Old Navy (Sweetheart and Diva styles) and sometimes, just a good pair of Levis do the trick. I usually pick 8-10 pairs to try on and am lucky to find one. Good Luck!
I love the pics of your goldens, and look forward to seeing new ones every Friday! The Chevy commercial really got to me! It is like my daughter, and her golden, Riley. Rachel was 9 when she picked her puppy, and she was home for summer break, for her senoir year in college when we had to say goodbye to that wonderful dog. We have two goldens now, one is a 6 yr old rescue, the other is 22 months old. Teddy, our pup is enrolled in the Morris Animal Foundation Golden Retriever Cancer Study to help find a cure.
Hi Marcia, I am so sorry that you lost Riley :( Love that you have two more, and that one is helping with research, such a wonderful thing!
Yes, you should try knitting. It’s fun, relaxing, and productive all at the same time. Check out how-to videos at knittinghelp.com. Try continental style knitting (tensioning the yarn in your left hand)–it tends to be more intuitive for crocheters since we already hold the yarn that way (I also crocheted before I learned to knit, and I taught myself to knit a few years ago by watching the videos). Also check out ravelry.com, a community for knitters and crocheters with a huge pattern database.
I love Ann Taylor Loft’s petite curvy fit jeans. Their factory store jeans are great too!
I too use to love J Crew’s jeans but not any longer…sad! I now get Banana Republic or Gap jeans. I really like the gap curvy fit jean.
Michelle,
Great photos of the puppies. Hubby loves them too.
Annamaria
Hi! I’m super picky about jeans and wear 3 brands only – Hudson, Citizens of Humanity, & Seven. I swear, that’s all ever wear. I always buy them at Nordstrom or Nordstrom.com because they do alterations for free (those jeans are always super long). They’re pricey, but definitely worth it.
PS. I’m from Pittsburgh as well & just heard Nordstrom Rack is going into Northway Shoppes in McCandless!! I’m pumped!
I LOVE knitting; I think it’s way more fun than crocheting, although I like crocheting too. If you can read a pattern and learn the basics you’ll do just fine. I’ve knitted everything from mittens to scarves to sweaters, and more; it is a fun hobby.
That Chevy commercial still has me in tears, we lost one of our boys to cancer last year (cancer sucks), dogs are the best.
Yay knitting! Of course, I’m a knitting designer so I’m biased. :P I found learning crochet really easy after having been a knitter first, because I was used to the idea of patterns being full of strange abbreviations (even if they are different from crochet to knitting), the concept of manipulating string with an object, etc. My BFF is a crocheter first and then learned to knit, and she didn’t have any big issues with the switch. Good luck! http://www.ravelry.com is your friend for patterns and advice, if you’re not already on there.
Lately, I’ve been getting my jeans from Buckle. They’re pricey but worth it. They carry short, regular, & tall lengths and have free alterations.
I’ve crocheted forever and recently took up knitting. I tried knitting two other times in the past and just couldn’t get the hang of it, even though I’ve always wanted to learn. I finally decided, if nothing else, I was going to learn to make knitted dishcloths. I found a few YouTube videos and that’s how I learned. So far, I have not progressed beyond the dishcloths, but I will try a scarf soon. I’m amazed by those who think knitting is easier than crocheting as I find crocheting easier – maybe some of it is what you learned first.
I highly recommend KUT they are sold at Nordstrom or online. http://www.kutfromthekloth.com/
Super soft and stretchy, will last a long time.
I love that you named your dog Einstein. I always wanted to name a Golden Retriever Einstein, but I’m a Dean Koontz nerd. Love your blog!
#2: regarding jeans–
I’m petite as well, just a bit shy of 5′, with not so slender thighs. I like the jeans I’ve gotten from Old Navy. The short style with straight leg cut.
I am also 5’1″ and pear shaped and I LOVE The Limited’s 678 ankle jeans! They are perfect! I’m in between sizes most places but with these I wear the smaller of the two sizes.
I’m also 5’1″, I wear juniors Levi’s 518 style jeans. I also have one pair of 524 which are a little tighter than the 518. I love the way they fit, but I have to shorten the length of them by about an inch.
I love the snuggling dogs! I love Citizens of Humanity, AG and Joe’s Jeans, all available at Nordstrom at Ross Park. I’m 5’5″, though.
I used to wear JCrew jeans in short, but lately I’ve purchased the boot cut style from Vera Wang at Kohl’s. It was a random find because I have the worst luck with jeans, but maybe you’ll find luck with them too :)
I love your Friday postings because of those faces! Thanks!
I have a difficult time finding jeans that fit well (and don’t cost a fortune). I like Levis and (surprisingly) Cato’s jeans. I’m 5’4″ and right on the border of being plus size so many of the specialty stores mentioned by others don’t carry the right size for me. I used to love Old Navy jeans, but they changed the material and now they always feel really cheap and thin. Good luck finding jeans that work for you!
PS – I love your doggie pictures every Friday. Makes my heart happy :)
THE best part of Friday without a doubt, is Einstein and Duke. They are both so handsome!
I agree with you on the Harry & David Pepper & Onion Relish dip. It is delicious. We eat it with tortilla chips, but I bet those pretzel crisps would be fantastic as well.
Have you ever tried J Jill jeans? I’m 5’3″ and curvy as well and I can wear their jeans and be comfortable. I really like that you posed this Jeans question – the recommendations of others are great. I’m certainly going to be checking out those brands.
Go on ravelry.com. You will get lost in the wonderful projects, yarns, make friends, gain confidence. It is one of the best sites ever. Businesses try to copy it because it is so successful. All about knitting. I knit A LOT but don’t make anything without checking on ravelry.com to see who has made it and if there are problems or tips. Re two needles: we use two feet and two hands all the time. same difference. You’ll love it. Your local knitting shop will help you get started free, and probably offer classes as well.
My goodness that’s a lot of dog! They’re gorgeous – I’ve always wanted a Golden, but I can’t wrap my brain around dealing with a shedding dog again (we have two shih tzus). As soon as they invent a non shedding one (not a labra doodle either) I’m getting one.
I’ve been having a terrible time buying jeans. What’s with this Curvy, Skinny, Classic, business? I’d just like a pair that doesn’t slide down but also doesn’t have a 14″ mom-jean zipper. Too much to ask? I guess so!
Definitely take up knitting!!! It will take practice, but you will learn to read your stitches (recognize knits & purls) and then you can mindlessly knit away!! And with knitting, you only have the 2 stitches (knit & purl) and various combinations of those stitches. Super easy!! KnitFreedom.com is a great online source with lots of tutorials, if you’re a visual person. Start with a dishcloth or 2, then a scarf or 2, but then force yourself to branch out to hats or socks or gloves. One disclaimer: Lace knitting is something you have to pay attention to, but such a fun challenge!
Hi, Michelle :)
As both a knitter and crocheter, I would say the transition is not so difficult. You do use much more your left hand in knitting (or right if you’re a leftie) but if you are worried, you can try arm knitting first. It will give you the structure of the fabric and it’s much bigger to see and understand.
I love to do both things, but I go throught crafting seasons (for some unknown reason) and my urge is the one to tell me whether I should do one thing or the other (or learn new crafts :P)
Right now, I’m in the food season, hihi, so I read your posts every day.
Thanks for your wonderful recipes!
What type of cast iron skillet did you get? I received one for a Christmas gift but it’s more of a grill pan. I’d like to get something with a flat bottom so I can do the corn breads, etc.
And did you just follow the manufacturer instructions on how to season? How long did it take?
Have a great & furry weekend :)
Hi Andrea, It is a Lodge Logic pan. I have a 12″, 10″, 8″, and square grill pan. It was one of the ones that come “pre-seasoned” and while you can cook on it immediately, it’s not even close to that completely non-stick surface that can only come with use. I just clean it as I detailed above, and currently don’t do anything else to it. It was actually my husband’s before we got married, and had cleaned it with soap many times (ack!), so I rubbed it all over with vegetable shortening and baked it in a 350 degree oven for 2 hours to start the resurrection process :) That was about 6 months ago, now it’s my favorite pan!
I am 5’2″ and have a smaller waist and curvier hips/thighs and I really like the GAP curvy jeans in “ankle”. I don’t have to get them hemmed and I don’t have the dreaded gap in the back!
Well, I’m going to completely disagree from the majority on jeans. I’m 5’1″ and pear shaped (isn’t it a blast?) and maybe it also depends on waist to hip ratio, but the jeans at Old Navy always fit great well in the hips/butt and then leave me about 7 extra inches around my waist. Room to grow, maybe? Not sure, but a lot of brands give me that awful “waist gap” where you could literally stick a loaf of bread between my spine and the back of the jeans-Old Navy, American Eagle, GAP. Always fit my hips, though.
Anyway, no one’s mentioned it yet but I’ve had great luck with Anne Taylor Loft. I used to buy their jeans and cords, but they changed up their cords awhile ago and now they fit me like most everything else. But the jeans still rock-or at least did when I bought a few pairs a year ago. I can also vouch for buying pricier denim at the Buckle or something similar (we have a few jeans boutiques in town). I’m frugal so, for me, it can suck to spend $100 on jeans but they always offer free tailoring and they really know their stuff-what brands will fit me well, the best cut and size in that brand for my body, etc. Plus, jeans tend to last me for years and years and I wear them all the time so I look at it as an investment.
Oh my goodness! We all found that Chevy commercial yesterday at work and about half of us cried. Too serious of a car commercial for my taste!
I agree! I saw it this morning on the Today Show .. cried.. and decided I am NEVER buying a Chevy.. ever!!! How DARE they compare a dog to a stupid SUV. We just lost our dog suddenly (he was 10 yrs old – and my daughter had that same moment picking him out) and did NOT need that! I love touching commercials.. LOVE the Budweiser dogs / horse ones!
Banana Republic jeans have always worked great for me. You can get petite too, so no hemming:).
I love jeans but finding some that fit me are a royal pain…others have made some great suggestions and I don’t have any others to add…lol
I too want to take up knitting but I’m scared to give it a go…let us know how you like it…I know I need to find a place that gives classes like “knitting for dummies”….lol
I’m the exact same height and shape as you, so I get that jeans shopping is the pits. Macy’s carries the INC brand & the petite curvy boot cut styles fit me pretty well. They don’t always have them, and sometimes they have bling on the butt (which I hate), so I stock up when I find a pair that fits. Good luck!
Although I’m not short…I AM pear shaped. The Sweetheart jeans at Old Navy fit perfectly. I buy the bootcut because they fit a lot better than regular cut, for me. But you should try them.
First off, I love Duke!!! I am the proud mom of a crazy 4 year old golden retriever named Abby and she is amazing. I love their goofiness! As for jeans, I have the worst time finding them. I am 5 feet tall and I don’t like the skinny jeans. I recently bought some curvy boot cut jeans from Gap that fit very nicely and are very comfortable.
Jeans: I’m 5’2″ and I’ve recently discovered denim at White House Black Market. It’s a DREAM to walk into and store and find several styles of jeans that I’d be willing to wear that same day (ie, no hemming or other tailoring needed and no more visiting multiple stores and tearing out your hair in frustration!). I also want to second Buckle. Looks like a teeny-bopper shop but they really know their products there. I’ve found the service to be amazing…they will get you into a great looking pair of jeans BUT you may need to leave them for a week to get hemmed (for free). Gap: I find the service at the Gap to be so incredibly lacking that I don’t bother going there. Makes me feel so alone in my jeans search and now with Buckle and White House Black Market there’s no reason to feel alone! Good luck!
I am also 5’1… My favorite jeans are Joe’s Jeans in petite and Lucky Brand Jeans. Joes are my favorite though!
It’s Friday—-DOG PICTURE day!!!! I’ll tell you what–that Duke is becoming such a handsome young man. And Einstein looks just like my Derby (who has just been diagnosed with sarcoma). Anyway, knitting is great winter hobby. I have a great dishcloth pattern that goes fast and everyone loves them! Thank you for BYB–I “tune in” everyday!
Here’s a brand of jeans that are below the radar but sooo good. They are called Mavi and are sold at Nordstrom’s. Not only do they have just the right amount of stretch but the way it is cut, I swear my legs are longer! Trust me!
Try H&M. Many styles and you can choose you own inseam. I just bought the cutest pair online for $20!
I’m petite and have freakishly short legs. Macy’s house brand of American Rags fit me pretty well. I also like Banana Republic, and when I feel like spending more, can’t go wrong with Joe’s, the Provocateur style.
I have the same problem with jeans being 5’1 and my best find is always at a Levi’s store! They’ll measure and fit you, they’ve definitely bece my favorite brand!
We’ll… I do like GAP jeans for my short, curvy self but I LOVE silver suki jeans!! Not too long and very flattering! I have crocheted for years and taught myself to knit. I am only making scarves so far but I love the tighter, less bulky stitches. Just get going. It’s pretty easy once you get the hang of it ( but I will admit I pulled a lot of the scarves apart and started over before I was finally satisfied!)
My sister-in-law found a great fit at Talbot’s. You might try their petite section for your jeans.
I learned to crochet years ago, haven’t done any crocheting in years but have recently started thinking about adding knitting to my “things to do when retired” list. One of the top items on my list though is make more Brown-eyed baker recipes for my family & friends. Everytime I bring something out of the kitchen for them, they say “Brown-eyed Baker?”.
Have a great weekend.
I’m 5’0 and hippy and just recently found jeans that I love at Old Navy. They’re the Flirt cut in the short length. They’re a little lower on the waist and roomier in the hip and the length is perfect!
I love the jeans at Eddie Bauer.
DO learn to knit! Since you already crochet, it will be easier to learn to knit. Knitting is much more relaxing to me. Years ago my father-in-law was fascinated watching me knit a sweater for my husband. He observed that I didn’t look at it as I worked on it. I was working on the back of it in the area that there were no increases or decreases – just knitting and purling. Just so much more relaxing and faster to me than crochet.
Oh my gosh…I am weeping after watching the Chevy commercial. I can understand why you hugged Einstein extra hard.
That said, I love knitting. I find it to be much easier than crocheting and so much more versatile. One you learn the basics , you can learn any of the more complicated stitches and techniques. Honestly, the most difficult thing to master is gauge but with a little practice, you can master it. Most yarn shops will be happy to tutor you for free and are always available to help you sort out problems.
Go for it and you will be sitting by a cozy fire next year, happily knitting away!
First, number five in the post killed me. So true. On knitting, I actually found it more fun than crocheting. I taught myself using online tutorials and books with pictures. Learning is easier one with so many resources. On jeans, I am also 5’1″. I love Paige Premium denim and 7”s with a bit of stretch. They make petites, but if not I just get them tailored. My tailor even reattaches the original hem. They are more expensive brands but are high quality and last forever. Worth, I think, if you wear jeans often.
I am 4’11” I wear Levis in junior size 0 and now 3. I like Old navy and Banana Republic too. It is indeed difficult to find jeans sizes. It took a lot of hit and miss before I found these brands.
Duke’s picture is so cute!
My daughter & I are both curvy, and we like the fit of Maurices brand jeans. I’m 5 5 and she is 5 2 so we get the short length.
I have tried knitting but you can’t sit in front of the TV mindlessly knitting like you can with crocheting. You have to count stitches and pay attention to if you are supposed to be knitting or purling. I am very proud of my headband and extremely small purse that I have completed though. Give it a try and good luck! :)
Dogs are just the best, aren’t they? Always ready to snuggle and make all the worries of your day fade into oblivion. Those dog love commercials always get me, did you see the adoption puppy commercial from the Super Bowl? Gosh. Just smiling ear to ear! Always good to find more dog lovers :) Happy weekend!
I’m 5″3 and pear shaped and Lucky jeans are my favorite I have found and I have always struggled with finding jeans too. I have the Sweet ‘N Low cut but they aren’t really low rise. They fit perfectly. Good luck with your search!
I agree! I’m 5’4, also curvy in the hip area, and Lucky jeans are always a great fit. They definitely have a cut made for any size or shape!
I’m less than 5 feet and like a few commenters have already said, Gap is the way to go!
Knitting is cool…socks, scarves, hats, legwarmers, cardigans, jumpers, cushions, blankets etc.
Wide range of wool + Many patterns available = Infinite combinations
You can make great and often unique items for yourself, family and friends, furnishing the home or gifting.
There are a lot of resources online to learn like http://www.knittinghelp.com, YouTube, and a lot of yarn supplies, patterns and videos at http://www.yarn.com.
Have fun knitting if you decide to take it up.
I look forward to your pictures of Duke and Einstein every Friday, and share them with the rest of my office! Duke is definitely still a puppy. Have a great weekend!
I’m surprised at how big and handsome Duke has gotten! Just the pther day you got him and he was alil tiny thing! His fur looks so healthy and he is very well taken cared of! Love it!
Knitting is addictive!!! I took a beginner’s class at Knit One in Squirrel Hill – great teacher and beautiful shop. I’ve made tons of scarves and recently finished my first sweater- looking forward to taking a sock class soon.
Jeans: Old Navy and Gap seem to be working for me right now. I’m also 5’1” and pear shaped….
Knitting: it’s an obsession! Easy to transition from crochet to knitting and there’s room for both. Find a local yarn shop and you’ll be hooked. but there’s plenty of tutorials on line to get started.
I haven’t bought jeans in ages…lately I’m all about Athleta’s Classic Bettona pants. But my all time favorite jeans are from the Gap. Old Navy fits pretty well, but never wears well over time for me…they’re the first to get holes in the knees!
Re: Jeans…I’ve found that Old Navy ones work well for me…I have a hard time too finding ones that fit my shape and stature (vertically challenged, I am).
As for knitting: Careful. Highly addictive. Are you familiar with Ravelry.com? Inspiration. Drool. And fun knitting groups to be in. I’ve joined one this year that sends you yarn, 2 sock patterns and 2 cookie recipes every other month. Baking and knitting combined!!!!
You have great recipes and wonderful stories, but your dogs are the “hook”. I absolutely love those two guys and I am so glad you talk about them alot. We do not have a dog since our little one passed many years ago, but whenever I get the chance I “hug” someone else’s dog. Give your guys a hug from me!
I love Gap’s curvy fit and Express’s Eva fit. I have the best luck with these for my. 5’2″ curvy self! :)
Banana Republics work great for me.
And I decided to take up a yarn craft, so I bought all the stuff and a book each on knitting and crocheting. I found knitting to be SOO much easier! But then, I only made it about 7 pages into my book before I got tired of it, bought some circular needles and started knitting hats. I made some really sweet hats and some lady on the bus wanted my pattern for them. Huh? I never made it that far in the book! I just did what I wanted and if it fell apart, then I must not have done it right! I figured all sorts of things out on my own and made up a bunch of patterns just by allowing myself to have fun and make mistakes. I eventually went back to my book to learn how to read patterns so I could make gloves. But just goofing off with the needles (and examining a bunch of J Crew sweaters!) made me like knitting and allowed me the freedom to create what I wanted in the patterns I wanted. So give it a go – and relax and realize that you still have to start out at the beginning and make some ugly, uneven stitches. I still have my cherished first ‘bookmark’ that was supposed to be a potholder, but it was too ugly to finish. :)
Levi’s curves.
I have the same problem with jeans- I really like Silver brand jeans
Old Navy is by far my favorite for jeans! I’m 5’1 also and they have many different styles that fit me really well :)
You should definitely take up knitting. It’s different for sure but a lot of fun! I’m actually considering the opposite – I’m a knitter who wants to get better at crochet (it’s a goal of mine this year).
For jeans, I love old navy. They have a different styles for different body types.
Maybe try american eagle jeans? i have a hard time finding jeans that fit, i’m short and have pretty curvy legs. I love their skinny kick line.
I also struggle with finding jeans. I’m 5’1″ with big thighs. I used to wear American Eagle jeans, but they changed their patterns a few years ago and now their “short” sizes are still too long. I now usually shop at Buckle. Their jeans are expensive but they fit well and are comfortable, plus they include hemming for free with your purchase. I’ve also been told to check out Lucky Brand jeans, but I haven’t gotten around to that yet.
You guys should check out this company called True Fit- it is an online software company that specializes in fitting brands to body types (but not one of those cheezy in-mall kiosks that are humiliating) they work with Nordstrom, Macys, Joes Jeans, 7 For All Mankind, and they will be launching with JCrew and Gap and many many others this year! Its pretty cool…all you do is sign up online! Check it out!
Knitting is different than crocheting. I have taken knitting back up again after many years. Best thing is for you to take a Beginner’s Class so that u can learn all the basics like casting on/off, increase/decrease, etc.
Hope you do take it, and keep us posted on how and hat you do. Enjoy!
