The Weekend Dish: 10/12/2013

A very happy Saturday to you!

I know The Weekend Dish has been on a little bit of a hiatus, but it’s baaaaack! It looks like this might be the last weekend of fantastic weather before the cold and wet days of late fall arrive. I’m planning on lunch with a good friend, some time spent in the kitchen, catching up on email and enjoying some much-needed down time. What are you up to this weekend?

As always, you’ll find a recap of what was posted to the site this week as well as some bookmarked recipes from other blogs. Enjoy!

On Brown Eyed Baker This Week

Maple-Almond Granola with Dried Fruit – A fabulous homemade breakfast and snack recipe; granola made with maple syrup, almonds, dried cranberries and dried apricots.

Honey-Peanut Butter Cookies – Soft and chewy peanut butter cookies made with honey. They taste just like honey-roasted peanuts!

Praline Waffles – Cinnamon-spiced waffles topped with a praline syrup and pecans.

Hot Apple Cider Rum Punch – Apple cider infused with fresh apple, orange, ginger and cinnamon, then spiked with dark rum. A perfect fall drink!

What I Bookmarked This Week

Recipes and posts from other blogs that I thought looked especially delicious and that I thought you would like, too:

Apple Cinnamon Roll Muffins (Cooking Classy)
I would devour at least two of these every single morning. Cinnamon roll meets muffin meets apples – love it!

Caramel Apple Streusel Pie (Handle the Heat)
If I ever entered a pie eating contest, this would be the pie I’d want to eat. Please pass me the entire plate.

Fluffernutter Bars (Confessions of a Cookbook Queen)
Peanut butter, marshmallows, peanut butter chips and Reese’s Pieces? If these don’t have my name written all over them, I’m not sure what does!

Four Cheese Hot Roasted Red Pepper Dip (Closet Cooking)
I haven’t tried any new dip recipes in a couple of months, and this one is just calling my name. I totally underutilize roasted red peppers (they’re so fabulous!), and would adore this dip.

Slow-Cooker Korean Beef Tacos (Foodie with Family)
I’ve busted out my slow cooker a couple of times in the last month and am constantly on the lookout for recipes such as this. These tacos look to be full of fantastic flavor!

What was the best thing you ate this week??

Have a delicious weekend!

Duke IS growing…..and he sits there and poses for you so sweetly :-). The best thing I had to eat was an onion cheese dip I made to bring to a painting class I’m taking called Brushes & Bubbly. Yes, wine was involved….can’t say it helped my painting any tho :-). Have a great weekend! Hugs to Duke and Einstein….

Best things I ate this week were a pumpkin meringue cookie, a fresh ginger cookie with pumpkin spice frosting, and sesame coated green olives. All really tasty! Love having the weekend dish back! 🙂
