The Weekend Dish: 10/19/2013

Happy Saturday to you!

I hope you had a great week and that your weekend is off to a fabulous start. Fall is in full swing here in Pittsburgh, complete with leaves changing, chilly temperatures and drizzly days. I found some late-season pickling cucumbers in the local farm section of a small market near my house, so I’m planning to spend today canning a batch of dill pickles. Other than that, I have a low-key weekend planned with lots of sports-watching, of course!

As always, youíll find a recap of what was posted to the site this week as well as some bookmarked recipes from other blogs. Enjoy!

What I Bookmarked This Week

Recipes and posts from other blogs that I thought looked especially delicious and that I thought you would like too:

Apple Bread with Streusel Topping (Your Cup of Cake)
It’s hard for me to look past any type of bread that has a streusel topping, especially one filled with apples at this time of year!

Cheesy Sweet Potato Skillet Chili (The Cozy Apron)
I love my big pots of chili, but an easy skillet version that includes both sweet potato and cheese sounds amazing and cozy. Totally making this for dinner next week!

Easy Kettle Corn (Two Peas and Their Pod)
There’s nothing better than a salty/sweet combination and kettle corn is one of my favorites. I love this easy homemade version.

Pumpkin Cream Cheese Bread with Crumb Topping (Confessions of a Cookbook Queen)
Why have plain ol’ pumpkin bread when you can have pumpkin bread with a cream cheese filling and a crumb topping?

Salted Caramel Apple Cheesecake Bars (Averie Cooks)
This is basically everything fabulous, all packaged up into neat little squares. I’ll take two dozen, please!

What was the best thing you ate this week??

Have a delicious weekend!

Thanks for linking to my Salted Caramel Apple Cheesecake Bars! I wish I could have given you a few or two dozen 🙂 We both had salted caramel on the brain this week I guess! Being that I LOVE RKTreats, your Salted Caramel version (with chocolate!) looks so good. I could go to town! 🙂

Have a wonderful weekend and good luck with your canning project. I love pickles!

I am lusting after that cornbread!
Best thing I tasted (besides the sweet taste of St. Louis Cardinals victory) was a soft pretzel:

We just finished canning almost 30 jars of applesauce and apple butter, most of which we will give away to family and friends in holiday baskets with other homemade goodies. Now it’s time to relax!

Could you share how you pickled the cucumbers this weekend? They look very good and my husband likes to pickle cucumbers. He does pickle some great bread and butter pickles!
