The Weekend Dish: 2/1/2014

Happy, happy weekend!

I usually feel like the weeks flutter by, but surprisingly, I feel like last Saturday was eons ago. We’ve been playing in the snow here, with nothing terribly new to report. Are you geared up for the Super Bowl tomorrow? I still need to finalize my snack menu! Today I’m baking up a classic cake for my father-in-law’s birthday celebration tomorrow; I hope he enjoys it!

As always, you’ll find a recap of what was posted to the site this week as well as some bookmarked recipes from other blogs. Enjoy!

What I Bookmarked This Week

Recipes and posts from other blogs that I thought looked especially delicious and that I thought you would like, too:

Beer Caramelized Onion Dip (Confections of a Foodie Bride)
It’s been awhile since I had a really great beer dip, and this one looks absolutely fantastic.

Best Nacho Cheese Sauce Ever! (A Spicy Perspective)
In that same vein, I usually don’t eat nacho sauce at sporting events because it’s that bright yellow ick stuff. But THIS, this I can get behind. I might need to throw some on the stove for Sunday!

Chocolate Whiskey Bundt Cake with Whiskey Caramel Sauce (Love and Olive Oil)
This cake sounds so amazing, and I love the story of the whisky bottle that was used to make it.

Healthy 5-Ingredient Granola Bars (Minimalist Baker)
I’ve been looking for some healthy snack ideas, and LOVE this! I already munch on dates, almonds and sunflower seeds, but love these bars, as they have a little more bulk and filling power.

Rosemary and Gruyere Crisps (Cookie Monster Cooking)
Think of these as homemade gourmet Cheez-It crackers. Amazing!

What was the best thing you ate this week??

Have a delicious weekend!

Not delicious thing? Possibly the California cab I’m sipping right now!! Although I’m making that spinach dip of yours soon so maybe that will trump it!

It is great to wake up in Saturday morning seeing your weekend dish update. As usual, th dogs are cute. We are very excited for tomorrow’s game because we are Seahawks’ fans. We are so ready to celebrate the win ( I hope so). Have a great day.

I made Smitten Kitchen’s Blueberry Crumb Bars which I love, using Bing cherries instead – and I added a tsp. of cinnamon to the crumb mixture. My niece had an appointment for wedding dress shopping & I knew it would be a marathon. The bars were a hit & Cate looked beautiful in every dress she tried.

My family and friends were impressed with the spread I put out thanks to so many of your recipes. Every thing turned out great. As I was grocery shopping a lady that was shopping also asked what I was making and I shared some of the items and told her about you and your delicious recipes. I even gave her a copy of one of the recipes so that she could look you up. Hopefully, you have gained another fan.
