The Weekend Dish: 2/26/2011

Remember those temperatures in the 50’s and 60’s that I talked about last Saturday? Mother nature laughed at me, and then dumped an inch of ice and 8 inches of snow on my head. Not that I minded much – I absolutely love the snow and would have loved a full-blown blizzard even more, but wow what a weather swing! Back in the kitchen this week I worked on some recipes that I had been wanting to try for quite some time so I hope you enjoyed them. Stay tuned next week for a giveaway, a couple more “bucket list” recipes, and then some recipes to get you ready for Mardi Gras! Also, I’ll be adding a little something to the site come Tuesday, so be on the lookout for that!

Now as always, you’ll find a recap of what was posted to the site this week as well as some bookmarked recipes from other blogs. Enjoy! :)

On Brown Eyed Baker This Week

Blueberry Bagels – One of my absolute favorite homemade bagels. So much better than store-bought!

White Chocolate-Coconut Brownies – A delicious flavor combination that makes me want to sip fruity drinks on the beach.

Chocolate & Peanut Butter-Covered Popcorn {Poppy Chow} – Completely and utterly addicting. You have been warned.

Malted Vanilla Milkshake – Homemade milkshake with homemade vanilla ice cream. Sublime.

Most Viewed Post This Week: Red Velvet Whoopie Pies

What I Bookmarked This Week

Recipes from other blogs that I thought looked especially delicious and that I thought you would like too:

Almond Joy Tarts (And Now for Something Completely Delicious)
I adore taking candy bar flavors and making other desserts out of them. These look lovely!

Chocolate Malt Cupcakes (Pennies on a Platter)
Since I’m on a malted baked good kick, I need to try these.

Homemade Girl Scout Cookies – Samoas Bars (Nutmeg Nanny)
Samoas have always been my downfall. I can’t wait to make these!

Mint Chocolate ‘Aero’ Cake (raspberri cupcakes)
Holy wow. Layers of chocolate cake, mint chocolate mousse and chocolate ganache. I Want.

Sweet and Salty Brownies (My Baking Addiction)
These have been on my to-bake list for quite some time, and they look delicious!

Have a delicious weekend!

Michelle, hi! Thanks for the mention of my Almond Joy Bars, you definitely should try them, they are amazing.

I’m a long time lurker, both here and on twitter, and I don’t tell you as often as I should how much I enjoy your posts. Your posts this week on the White Chocolate Coconut Brownies and Malted Vanilla Milkshake particularly caught my eye. They both looked amazing! Keep up the great baking, I’m loving it!
