The Weekend Dish: 3/30/2013
Happy Saturday and Happy (early) Easter!
Do you have any big holiday weekend plans? Maybe doing some Easter baking, or having an Easter egg hunt for the kids? We are spending time today celebrating my grandma’s 80th birthday and tomorrow we’ll be with family for Easter dinner at my aunt’s house. No menu-making for me this year, but I am planning to bring along my no-bake banana split dessert (yum!). Are you making anything for the holiday? I hope you all have a wonderful and safe Easter!
As always, you’ll find a recap of what was posted to the site this week as well as some bookmarked recipes from other blogs. Enjoy!
On Brown Eyed Baker This Week
Six-Layer Chocolate Cake with Toasted Marshmallow Filling & Malted Chocolate Frosting – My birthday gift to myself! Only the most amazing cake I’ve ever had.
Italian Easter Pie – A traditional Italian Easter pie, stuffed with nearly four pounds of Italian meats and cheeses!
Paska Bread (Ukrainian or Polish Easter Bread) – A traditional Eastern European Easter bread made with a brioche-style dough and full of golden raisins.
Coconut-Vanilla Bean Cake with Coconut Meringue Buttercream Frosting – A perfect dessert for Easter Sunday! A fluffy white coconut cake with flecks of vanilla bean is frosted with a coconut meringue buttercream and covered in shredded coconut.
Friday Things – Birthday fun, Easter baking, organization and more!

What I Bookmarked This Week
Recipes and posts from other blogs that I thought looked especially delicious and that I thought you would like, too:
Buttery Honey Beer Bread with Honey Butter (Cookie Monster Cooking)
I haven’t made a beer bread in years, and I love how gorgeous and rustic this loaf looks.
Fluffy Banana Cream Pie (A Spicy Perspective)
The perfect pie for moving from cold and dreary weather to bright and cheery sunshine!
Italian Drunken Noodles (The Cozy Apron)
My grandma used to make a pasta dish with noodles, Italian sausage and an olive oil-based sauce. This reminds me of that recipe; I can’t wait to try it!
Peanut Butter Chocolate Pillows (Cait’s Plate)
I’ve never met a chocolate and peanut butter cookie that I didn’t like, and I’m sure these are no exception!
Toasted Coconut Shortbread Cookies (Tracey’s Culinary Adventures)
These cookies make a gorgeous presentation and look to be perfect for any occasion.
What was the best thing you ate this week??
Have a delicious weekend!
