The Weekend Dish: 3/31/2012

It’s the weekend again! This week went especially fast, with us finishing up our vacation in Florida and getting back to Pittsburgh. We left early on Wednesday morning and drove the 1,000-plus miles all in one day, getting back a little after 1am. It’s a hardcore drive, for sure, but easier when it ends at 1am versus 3am (which we’ve done twice before). After piles of laundry, unpacking, mail sorting, picking up taxes, and all of those not-so-fun, back-from-vacation necessities, I am slowly getting caught up on everything. In other fun news, I’ll be making two trips down to Consol Energy Center this weekend – last night we saw Van Halen in concert, and tomorrow I am taking my mom to the Pens/Flyers game. Here’s to a great weekend for everyone!

As always, you’ll find a recap of what was posted to the site this week as well as some bookmarked recipes from other blogs. Enjoy!

On Brown Eyed Baker This Week

Cinnamon-Sugar Scones – Tender scones packed to the brim with cinnamon flavor. A real breakfast treat!

Homemade Fudge Pops – I couldn’t believe how easy these were to make! Definitely no more store-bought fudge pops for me!

On the Road Again… – What are some of your Easter recipe requests?

A Photo Journey of My Favorite Eats in Florida – A big roundup of some of the best foods I stuffed my belly with while in Florida.

Conch Fritters – One of my favorite Florida eats, and I finally made them at home!

What I Bookmarked This Week

Recipes from other blogs that I thought looked especially delicious and that I thought you would like too:

Banana Boat Cupcakes (How Sweet It Is)
Bananas, peanut butter, and chocolate? Clearly, these were made for me!

Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Peanut Butter Cups (How Sweet It Is)
I am hard-pressed to find a candy I enjoy more than peanut butter cups. But I am more than willing to give chocolate chip cookie dough a fair shake.

Cinnamon Swirl Bread (Tracey’s Culinary Adventures)
This bread looks totally sinful. I would love it toasted, smeared with peanut butter. Naturally, since I put peanut butter on most everything.

Peanut Butter Granola (Technicolor Kitchen)
Speaking of peanut butter, I can’t believe this is my first time coming across a peanut butter granola! A must-try for me!

Triple Chocolate Scones with Peanut Butter Glaze (Tracey’s Culinary Adventures)
Ooooh my. This sounds like the perfect excuse to eat chocolate for breakfast!

Have a delicious weekend!

Did you follow the links after the peanut butter granola to find the peanut butter munchies?!?! I am a huge peanut butter/chocolate fan, too, and I am going to make these today!

What a great roundup! Glad your trip back home went well. We will do a similar trip this Saturday! Was Van Halen good?

Hi Cindy, Safe travels to you! Van Halen was a blast! I had never seen them live, and my boyfriend hadn’t seen them since 1994, so it was fun. (I think throwing that year out there dates us a bit ;-))
