The Weekend Dish: 4/20/2013

Happy weekend! I’m not sure that I’ve ever been so relieved to usher in a Saturday. It’s been an emotional roller coaster of a week with all of the events that have transpired in Boston. I’ve consumed more ice cream in the last five days than I have in the previous five months. Whatever it takes, right? I was delighted to see that the Comfort Dogs had been deployed to Boston, just as they had been in Newtown, CT. I am just in love with that organization; it’s amazing how soothing animals can be. I hope you all have the opportunity to enjoy a restful and peaceful weekend with loved ones.

As always, you’ll find a recap of what was posted to the site this week as well as some bookmarked recipes from other blogs. Enjoy!

What I Bookmarked This Week

Recipes and posts from other blogs that I thought looked especially delicious and that I thought you would like, too:

Giant Peanut Butter Cup (Culinary Concoctions by Peabody)
A mini tart that’s actually an enormous peanut butter cup… I could eat this for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Hot Fudge Sundae Cupcakes (Something Swanky)
These are so adorable! Love the sprinkles and “cherry” on top!

Jalapeño Cheddar Cheesy Bread (Confections of a Foodie Bride)
I can’t resist cheesy carbs; throw jalapeños into the mix and all bets are definitely off.

Soft Pretzel Bread Buns (Hummingbird High)
These pretzel rolls look exactly like the ones they sell at the bakery of my local grocery store. I can’t wait to make them at home!

Spiked Almond Joy Poundcake (How Sweet It Is)
Coconut, almonds, chocolate, booze AND cake?! Fork, please.

What was the best thing you ate this week??

Have a delicious weekend!

You have a lot of comfort food here this week that we all need to take part of after what happened in Boston. Thank goodness the second man was arrested! The best thing I DRANK this week was a great, big pomegranate margarita! Have a nice weekend!

I never knew about comfort dogs and after reading about them, it really warmed my morning! Everyone can use a nice little furry hug to cheer them up.

So glad the comfort dogs went out there. Animals bring such joy in times of sadness. I have printed the Mousse and Cheddar Bay Biscuits to make soon. Must say I am so excited to try the Mousse 😉

Before moving back to my home state of New York, I lived in southern New Hampshire for 18+ years & have been a spectator at the Boston Marathon, cheering on family members, on more than a few occasions & understand so well how special that marathon, Patriots Day & Boston are.
As strong as New Yorkers are, Bostonians are just as strong. I believe that the 2014 Boston Marathon will be the proudest, loudest ever!
My thoughts are with everyone who has been affected by the bombings in Boston, the horrific events in Watertown, MA and the people of West, TX. It’s been a rough week for our country.
    Boston Strong!

Between the news and the bad weather (we have yet another snow storm coming tonight in MN) we needed some major comfort around here. Last night I made your Italian Wedding Soup with homemade bread and then served your cookiedough brownies for dessert.
