The Weekend Dish 4/27/2013

Happy Saturday!

I hope the sun is shining in your neck of the woods and that you have some fabulous things in store for you this weekend. Over the last couple of weeks I’ve been working on some spring cleaning of the online variety – getting my email inbox in order, streamlining my Twitter lists and Pinterest boards, and otherwise getting my digital files organized and backed up. If you have any tips for organizing your online space, feel free to share them below! Tonight, my Chief Culinary Consultant and I are headed to the Pittsburgh Penguins’ final game of the regular season, which means… soft pretzel!! What are you up to this weekend?

As always, you’ll find a recap of what was posted to the site this week as well as some bookmarked recipes from other blogs. Enjoy!

On Brown Eyed Baker This Week

New York-Style Cheesecake with Fresh Strawberry Topping – A classic New York-style cheesecake is a recipe everyone needs in their arsenal – this is a great one with no water bath needed.

Crab Rangoon – One of my favorite Chinese takeout items! Crab and cream cheese-stuffed wontons are deep-fried and served with duck sauce.

Buttermilk Pie – A Southern classic, this tangy custard pie has a caramelized sugar topping.

Black and White Cookies – After a baking disaster, I was thrilled to have perfect black and white cookies come out of my kitchen!

What I Bookmarked This Week

Recipes and posts from other blogs that I thought looked especially delicious and that I thought you would like, too:

Angel Food Cupcakes (Cooking Classy)
As a kid, angel food cake with whipped cream and strawberries was one of my favorite summertime desserts. I love this recreated in cupcake form – they’re stunning!

Chicken, Black Bean and Vegetable Enchiladas (Cookie Monster Cooking)
Cinco de Mayo is next weekend, and these enchiladas look like the perfect recipe for the occasion.

Chopped Thai Chicken Salad (Pinch of Yum)
I’ve been trying to eat more salad lately, and this one looks packed with tons of great flavors. This will be lunch this week!

Honey-Peanut Butter Cookies (My Baking Addiction)
I’ve never had a peanut butter and honey sandwich, but the combination sounds amazing. Plus, I’m always looking for some type of excuse to break open the peanut butter jar 🙂

Triple Chocolate Chip Muffins (Tracey’s Culinary Adventures)
I love any baked good that makes eating chocolate for breakfast acceptable!

What was the best thing you ate this week??

Have a delicious weekend!

I’m right there with you when it comes to pretzels. Any time the other half and myself go to any sporting event I have to get a pretzel with cheese sauce. Thankfully he likes it too and sneaks bites so I don’t feel like a fatty. The posts this week were right up my ally! Just wanted to say thanks. 🙂

Best thing I ate all week was the Ebelskievers that I made from an authentic recipe and my new Nordic Ware pan. Delicious and the pan worked really well.

I want those crab rangoons that you made! I’m going to have to get over my dislike for frying! I’ve been organizing my Pinterest boards, too, but I’ve got no idea how to organize Twitter stuff. I’m such a novice. Best thing I drank was a mixed berry smoothie with balsamic drizzle! Have a great weekend.

A soft pretzel sounds so good. I spent the day shopping for a new refrigerator. KitchenAid was the winner and will be delivered soon. Can’t wait!

I can’t believe you have never had a PB and honey sandwich! They are awesome as is, but up the wow factor by making it a PB, banana and honey sandwich! YUM!
