The Weekend Dish: 4/28/2012

Happy Saturday and welcome to another weekend! I started this week bracing for a late-April snowmageddon, as the weather forecasters here were calling for up to 8 inches of snow to fall on Monday. We did not get 8 inches of snow. We didn’t even get one flake of snow. Talk about a let down! We made it through the week snow-free, and I did quite a bit of baking. I must have had a nagging sweet tooth this week, I turned out more than a couple desserts! I made up for it by bookmarking a lot of savory fare from other bloggers down below 🙂  Now, I’m currently en route to NYC with my mom and sister for a girls weekend to celebrate my sister’s 30th birthday. I’ll be back next week to get you ready for Cinco de Mayo and the Kentucky Derby! What are you up to this weekend? Is it still chilly where you are, or are you able to start working on your gardening and landscaping?

As always, you’ll find a recap of what was posted to the site this week as well as some bookmarked recipes from other blogs. Enjoy!

What I Bookmarked This Week

Recipes from other blogs that I thought looked especially delicious and that I thought you would like too:

Bacon Cinnamon Rolls (Rainy Day Gal)
Wrapping bacon inside of cinnamon rolls? Only the best breakfast idea, ever.

Baked Potato Grilled Cheese (BS’ In The Kitchen)
Everything that makes baked potatoes awesome… on a grilled cheese sandwich! Pure genius.

Baked Sweet Potato Fries with Chipotle Ranch Dressing (Confections of a Foodie Bride)
These fries look like serious, bona fide comfort food. I would like to stuff myself full of them, immediately.

Honey Prosciutto Flatbread Appetizer (She Wears Many Hats)
I am such a typical Italian girl when someone puts anything containing prosciutto in front of me. I can’t resist it. This simple, easy appetizer sounds amazing.

Rosemary Sea Salt Pretzels with Rosemary Cheddar Cheese Sauce (Two Peas and Their Pod)
I am fairly certain that these pretzels could be life changers. Seriously amazing.

Have a delicious weekend!

The pretzels you linked sound yummy! It’s perfect weather here for something like that. We’ve been in 80s and 90s this week.

The recipes sound great. The weather here (the Netherlands) has been kind of windy and cold but has now all of a sudden turned lukewarm and muggy. Yuck. I hope you have great weekend in New York. I absolutely love that city. Over here we are getting ready for Queens Day (30th of April). Lots of orange everywhere.

This weather has been crazy this year!!! We went from 60’s to 90’s overnight, than back down to 40’s, and now 80’s. This is within a week and a half.

My favorite time to read your blog is Saturday morning. If I’ve had a busy week & not much time online, I can count on you to give me a synopsis of your posts from the week, and links to other blogs that I might not have found on my own. Hope your NYC weekend is a blast. Thanks for being there.
