The Weekend Dish: 5/4/2013

Happy Saturday! Are you planning to watch the Kentucky Derby today or celebrate Cinco de Mayo this weekend? I always enjoy watching the pomp and circumstance of the Kentucky Derby, along with the beautiful horses. I also don’t need any encouragement when it comes to eating insanely large amounts of Mexican food, so I’m ready for Cinco de Mayo. What are your food plans for the weekend? I hope you get to enjoy some fabulous weather!

As always, you’ll find a recap of what was posted to the site this week as well as some bookmarked recipes from other blogs. Enjoy!

What I Bookmarked This Week

Recipes and posts from other blogs that I thought looked especially delicious and that I thought you would like, too:

Browned Butter Oatmeal Raisinet White Chocolate Bars (Averie Cooks)
Raisinets bring back so many fun memories of going to the movies as a kid. I don’t think I’ve had them since, and now I’m craving them and these bars!

Crockpot Short Rib Tacos with Salted Lime Cabbage and Queso Fresco (How Sweet It Is)
I love beef cooked in the crock-pot and these tacos look absolutely fabulous. A perfect Cinco de Mayo dinner!

Garlic and Mushroom Queso Fundido (Girl Versus Dough)
You had me at cheesy dip. I adore queso and this mushroom version looks fantastic.

Salted Chocolate-Pretzel Peanut Butter Cookies (Oh, Ladycakes)
These cookies are pretty much everything I love about food. Pretzels, peanut butter and chocolate? These might be in my kitchen by the end of the weekend.

Strawberry Cheesecake with an Oreo Cookie Crust (Barbara Bakes)
This is an absolutely stunning cheesecake. I love it!

What was the best thing you ate this week??

Have a delicious weekend!

Thanks for linking up my Raisinet Bars, Michelle! I hadn’t had Raisinets in years either and was glad to break my streak on that by way of browned butter, too 🙂
Relinking your buttermilk dressing reminds me to make that with the bit of buttermilk that I have that needs to be used.
But what I really want is one of your Derby Pie or Margarita Cupcakes!

Hmmm, this weekend, there is always so much I want to do, and never do it! I think the Farmers Market, Zumba class, lots of baking and the dreaded pulling the weeds from the garden. Re-doing my whole garden and it’s so much work! So needless to say that is my weekend, oh and maybe buys some sandals if I get a chance. I got the urge to shop and make your fried ice cream!!

    Have a great weekend!

I won’t be watching the derby, but definitely eating my fair share of Mexican food on Cinco de Mayo. Thanks for the link love!

The best thing I ate this week, well there were a few of them! There was tortilla soup, my own fried ice cream I made for my husband’s birthday.. or the slow cooked pot roast! Too many yummy choices!
    Have a great weekend!

Mmmm, I’ve been dreaming of that fried ice cream ever since you posted it! 🙂 And thanks so much for sharing my cheese dip… I want to eat that + the fried ice cream in celebration of Cinco de Mayo this weekend! And then take a nap.

The Derby was so much fun to watch but I hope I get to go one year. I’ll have to think of something to do for Cinco de Mayo today. Have a great weekend, Michelle!
