The Weekend Dish: 6/25/2011

Two of my biggest kitchen accomplishments this week were: (1) Making the pesto for my Portobello Pesto Pizza with basil that has been thriving in its container out on the deck (making something with an ingredient you’ve grown and picked yourself is so rewarding, I love it!); and (2) Somehow managing to provide you with ice cream recipes two weeks in a row that contain alcohol. Oops! Totally unintentional, but wow they’re both amazing. You definitely want to add them to your “to churn” list. Should be a nice weekend here in the ‘Burgh; hope you all are enjoying yours!

As always, you’ll find a recap of what was posted to the site this week as well as some bookmarked recipes from other blogs. Enjoy! :)

On Brown Eyed Baker This Week

Top 10 List: Favorite Brownie Recipes – A roundup of my 10 favorite brownie recipes!

Zucchini Pineapple Bread – My grandma’s famous zucchini bread recipe, a family favorite!

Strawberry-Rhubarb Pie – A classic early-summer pie that is packed with flavor.

Portobello Pesto Pizza – A recreation of a favorite from a local restaurant. One of my all-time favorite pizzas.

Dried Apricot-Pistachio Ice Cream – Another fabulous ice cream with dried fruit and nuts. Delicious!

What I Bookmarked This Week

Recipes from other blogs that I thought looked especially delicious and that I thought you would like too:

Cookie Dough Brownies (Gonna Want Seconds)
I think after my brownie round up I have them on the brain, and these look incredible. Layers of brownie, then cookie dough, then a chocolate glaze.

Homemade Twix Caramel Cookie Bars (Dine and Dish)
I am always a sucker for homemade versions of store-bought treats, and these bars look fabulous!

Ice Cream Cone Cupcakes (Love From the Oven)
These are so stinkin’ adorable. I definitely need to give these a go.

Mocha Ice Box Cake with Espresso Chocolate Chip Cookies (Eat Good 4 Life)
I have been wanting to make this cake since seeing it on Barefoot Contessa; I must get to it, looks so good!

Oreo-Stuffed Brownies (Sing For Your Supper)
I love that the Oreos are left whole and not chopped up in these brownies. Chocolate dessert nirvana.

Have a delicious weekend!

LOVE LOVE LOVE growing my own ingredients…you are right it is more rewarding. I have also found that my children (who are 8,4, and 2) are more likely to eat the food if they helped pick it and watched it grow.

  6. I ended up making the zucchini pineapple bread and yes, it was delicious. It disappeared quickly. Thanks for sharing the recipe!
