The Weekend Dish: 6/7/2014

Happy first Saturday of June to you!

Do you have any fabulous weekend plans? We spent the last week doing some serious spring cleaning at our house, so I am planning to do pretty much nothing for the next two days. Couch, TV, magazines, maybe a homemade pizza and some cookies are all that are on my radar. I hope you have something fun planned!

As always, you’ll find a recap of what was posted to the site this week as well as some bookmarked recipes from other blogs. Enjoy!

On Brown Eyed Baker This Week

Strawberry Swirl Cheesecake Bars – Fabulous plain cheesecake bars with a swirl of strawberry jam.

Grandma’s Roasted Potatoes – My grandma made these every single Sunday for decades; they definitely taste like home.

Watermelon-Peach Slushies – So refreshing, it tastes like you’re sipping summer! I included both a non-alcoholic and a spiked version.

What I Bookmarked This Week

Recipes and posts from other blogs that I thought looked especially delicious and that I thought you would like, too:

Brussels Sprouts and Pancetta Pizza (The Candid Appetite)
I’m a pepperoni pizza girl through and through, but I love the combination of Brussels sprouts and bacon. Throwing an egg on top is genius!

Inside Out Carrot Cake Muffins (Cookies and Cups)
Carrot cake is one of my all-time favorites, and I can’t possibly pass up the opportunity to eat it for breakfast in the form of a muffin.

Lattice Top Strawberry Pie (Fork Knife Swoon)
This is one seriously stunning pie. I want to dive head-first into it.

Root Beer Floatsicles (How Sweet It Is)
I could easily eat a thousand of these before the 4th of July. Seriously.

S’mores Krispies Bars (FoodieCrush)
The flavor of toasted marshmallows is one of my favorite things about summer!

What was the best thing you ate this week??

Have a delicious weekend!

I love your blog! I look forward to reading it and trying your recipes. We had some great food this week, but two things were the favorite. We made S’mores cupcakes from Sally’s baking addiction that were amazing. We also had your buttermilk pancakes for breakfast and they were fantastic! Thank you for all of your recipes!!!

A few weeks ago, we tried making pizza on the grill for the first time. It turned out great! We used a pizza grilling pan from Williams Sonoma, and the pizza was even better than if we had baked in the oven. Highly recommend, and it’s nice to finally take advantage of grilling out after the ridiculous winter we had. 🙂

Continue to love your blog! I subscribe to almost 40, and yours is one that I make sure to read everyday. Thanks so much!

Best thing eaten so far was a beet and cherry chocolate smoothie I made. But I’ve get to make your peach recipe so that may get topped!
    Happy weekend!

My son made your Chocolate Pudding for extra credit in his cooking class. Seriously good! 🙂 Love the smile on Duke’s face.

Hi Michelle, I am not sure if I have ever sent an earlier post telling you how much I enjoy your blog—if I did, that’s ok because you deserve to hear it again. Even though I am not the cook/baker, I really enjoy looking at all your recipes and the stories behind them. Thanks so much for sharing.
