The Weekend Dish 9/22/2012

Let’s hear it for the weekend! My Chief Culinary Consultant and I left Florida on Thursday and are currently in DC for a long weekend to catch a couple of concerts (Metric and Madonna!) and see some friends. I’m enjoying the fall weather and making the most of our last weekend away. I’ll be back in Pittsburgh on Monday and will be working on bottling my limoncello and getting back into the kitchen! What do you have planned for the weekend?

As always, you’ll find a recap of what was posted to the site this week as well as some bookmarked recipes from other blogs. Enjoy!

What I Bookmarked This Week

Recipes and posts from other blogs that I thought looked especially delicious and that I thought you would like, too:

Cinnamon Swirl Banana Bread (Sally’s Baking Addiction)
I adore banana bread and have always seen it paired with chocolate, but never see it with cinnamon. So, so smart – this looks fabulous!

Chocolate Cupcakes with Peanut Butter Cookie Dough Frosting (gimme some oven)
Unbelievable… I would make these and hide them from everyone.

Harvest Pizza (How Sweet It Is)
I love pizza, and usually I’m just a pepperoni girl, but all of the flavors in this pizza sound fantastic. A perfect Friday night dinner during fall!

Hot Apple Cider Funnel Cakes (Dine and Dish)
Speaking of fall… this is a seriously amazing creation. My mom adores funnel cakes; I’m definitely going to make these for her!

Potato Skins Mac and Cheese (A Spicy Perspective)
Combining potato skins and macaroni and cheese into one amazing, cheesy casserole? Yes, please.

What was the best thing you ate this week??

Have a delicious weekend!

Vacations are great but somehow it is always nice to get back home and into our routine! Safe travels. Your apple pie bars sound delicious!!

I have made the Chocolate Cupcakes with Peanut Butter Cookie Dough Frosting. Very good and worth it, just watch out as the frosting can be a little thick. Nothing a little extra milk couldn’t fix. The recipe made a lot of it so i froze the extra and put it as a layer between a vanilla cake with Hershey’s perfectly chocolate frosting the following week. Now that was good.

Best thing I ate this week was possibly the simplest-a grape, apple, spinach salad with feta and good balsamic.
I love clif bars, I may have to try that recipe!

The best thing I ate this week was a turkey meatloaf, that I begged my mom to make. Nothing beats mom’s meatloaf!
