The Weekend Dish 9/29/2012

Happy weekend! I’ve spent the better part of this week getting myself unpacked and re-organized after getting back home from our nearly four-week trip. I had a serious laundry situation! I hope you’ve had a great week and have enjoyed the first week of fall. I love the sunny, crisp days, but unfortunately since getting back home it’s been all rain and grey skies! I finally upgraded my phone yesterday to the new iPhone! Feel free to share any must-have apps in the comments below! I’ve been on Android for two years, so I may be missing some things as I transition back to an iPhone. What do you have planned for this weekend?!

As always, you’ll find a recap of what was posted to the site this week as well as some bookmarked recipes from other blogs. Enjoy!

What I Bookmarked This Week

Recipes and posts from other blogs that I thought looked especially delicious and that I thought you would like, too:

Autumn Chopped Salad (Iowa Girl Eats)
I love a lot of “stuff” in my salads (a la Elaine from Seinfeld) and this one is right up my alley!

Brown Butter Pumpkin Cupcakes with Salted Caramel Frosting (Two Peas and Their Pod)
Wow! Just when I thought plain old pumpkin with cream cheese frosting couldn’t get any better… this is it!

Cheesy Brussels Sprouts Gratin (White on Rice Couple)
This recipe could very well get me to eat my Brussels sprouts.

Cranberry Oat Spice Cake with Coconut, Chocolate & Pecans (Evil Shenanigans)
This sounds like such a warm, fragrant, perfect-for-fall cake. I love all of the add-ins!

Spiced Sugar Pumpkin Doughnuts (The Red Spoon)

What was the best thing you ate this week??

Have a delicious weekend!

Mmm. These Whoopie Pies – the cinnamon filling should be it’s own food group. Happy weekend to you! I’m sure it’s nice to be in your own bed again.

I love the “On the Road” app from Food Network. You can look up places to eat that have been features in whatever part of the country that you are in. Gives a rundown of the food served, price, etc.

iPhone app recommendation – Flipboard. It’ organizes all of your favorite news feeds, social media, etc.. All in one place, beautifully. It’s how I came across this article and site for the very first time today! 🙂
