The Weekend Dish: 9/8/2012

Happy weekend everyone! I hope that the first week of September has treated you well. Since I’ve been in Florida for the past week, there haven’t been any hints of fall weather for me. It’s been close to 90 and quite humid, so as far as I’m concerned, it’s still very much summer! Has it started to cool off in your neck of the woods yet? As nice as it is to be outside, I’m looking forward to the weather cooling down a bit so I can make chili, stew and soup without feeling like my skin is going to melt off of me! What are some of your favorite fall recipes that you’re dying to make?

    I am definitely trying those cinnamon roll biscuits! I’d have to say the best thing I ate all week was a cashew chicken salad from Cheesecake Factory 🙂

    Caramel apple popcorn will happen this weekend!
    I like this tip for removing the “old maid”s (unpopped kernels should you be unfamiliar with that name).
    I dump the popped popcorn onto my broiler pan and shake it around. The top grill has holes large enough for the old maids to fall through but keeps the popcorn separate.

    It’s finally cooling down here in WI. I’m mostly excited so I can make chili again. I can eat it anytime of year, but my hubby respectfully disagrees!

    I believe summer is still alive and well, and I hope it stays that way. I’m good baking with apples and pumpkin and cinnamon with it still being 80 or 90 and sunny outside.

    We have the best local bakery with the freshest baked goods ever I just this morning had my favorite cream filled Long John..It will knock your socks off :)))
