Friday Things
1. The crazy heat finally broke here, so I took the boys to the park one morning this week to enjoy the nice weather. They both love the slides and Dominic, in particular, LOVES the swings. He giggled and giggled, and Joseph just wanted to keep pushing him higher… and then they both wanted to run around the baseball field and stand on the bases :)
2. Isabelle has been sleeping SO WELL *knock on wood*. She’s down to one nighttime feeding for the most part (some nights there are two, but those have become few and far between); she goes down for the night between 7-8pm and is up between 6-7am. Those big bags and circles under my eyes should be letting up any day now (too bad I can’t manage to get myself to bed super early most nights!).
3. I mentioned awhile ago that we were in desperate need of some type of organization unit for our playroom because I was starting to lose my mind with all of the toys all over the floor and no real place to put them. After searching high and low, we settled on the IKEA Kallax 16-unit shelf and got door inserts for the bottom half. I cannot tell you how elated I was the other night when it was finally assembled and I had organized everything after the boys went to bed. I swear I heard angels singing! The top row are baskets filled with diaper changing supplies and extra wipes, etc. since we have a changing table in there.
The only thing left is I want to get a large area rug for in there, something bright and fun since it’s the kids’ space; I’m thinking something like this or this.
*Edited to Add: I’ve received tons of concerned comments and emails asking if the shelving unit is anchored to the wall, and YES, it is definitely anchored!
4. The Nordstrom sale is starting! Do you have anything you’re planning to buy? I’m thinking this cardigan would be great for fall, this layered mixed metal necklace would look awesome over a plain white tee, and this liquid matte lip stain would be a great everyday lip option.
5. I’ve always felt that once the 4th of July is behind us, summer feels like it’s on the downward slide and September is just around the corner. Realistically, of course, that’s not true, but it’s always felt that way to me!
6. If it’s hot hot hot where you live, a copycat Dairy Queen ice cream cake is probably in order.
7. I’m going to be having some updates made to the website over the next few months with some great new functionality, and I would love to hear if you have any specific requests!
8. Are you watching World Cup soccer? I love, love, love sports but just cannot get into watching soccer; ugh I find it so boring. I wish I enjoyed it more!
9. When I was a kid, I did one paint by number and I loved it, but never did another that I can remember. I came across this one and even though I have exactly zero free time, I want to do it!
10. TGIF! Judith was not about to let Duke sneak up on her, ha!
Your little girl is so sweet! I have a little boy the same age and just love to see your updates on her! He is sleeping from 8pm to 5 then back down until 8am. He is our first, and I am so nervous for the 4 month sleep regression just in time for me to go back to work!
Nooooooo!!! Please don’t think summer away so soon. It only started the 3rd week of June and it goes to the 3rd week of September. I’m milking summer for everything it’s got!!! Bring on more warm/hot days, swimming in the lake, ice cream, BBQs, corn on the cob, strawberries, watermelon etc, etc, etc. Autumn and winter will come soon enough and last waaaaaaay too long.
Cute shelf for the toys, the Mom in me is wondering if it is secured to the wall? Little ones love to climb.
Yes, it’s anchored.
Paint by number – I just had a “smell memory”. I loved those!
Way to go, Judith!
Your kids are just adorable! I see both the boys in Isabelle! Glad for you that she is such a good baby! Your play room looks clean and organised!
If you’re ever in Minneapolis, check out the restaurant Hot Plate. The walls are covered with paint-by-number paintings. Very cute and fun. Good food too!!
Isabelle looks so sweet and the boys are little boys now. Think you should try the painting. Loved it.
I’m just curious, Does Nordstorm pay you?
No, Nordstrom does not pay me. I do belong to a couple of affiliate programs, however, so there are sometimes affiliate links, which means I sometimes make a few dollars (with no extra cost to the buyer) if something is purchased from that link. For example, the Nordstrom links are affiliate, but the IKEA ones and the JoAnn Fabrics ones are not. Hope that helps!
Love the storage unit. It fits perfectly in the room. As for the rugs, my person favorite is the second one.
The organization in the kids room looks fantastic. A bright colored rug will really finish it off nicely and make it such a happy space. I’m sure you already know this and have done it, but just making sure you’ve mounted the shelving unit to the wall so it won’t come down should you have any “climbers” in the family.
Hi Dawn, Yes, it is most definitely anchored to the wall, no worries! Dominic is our resident climber :) Joseph never was, we’ll see about Isabelle!
Love the kids room. I had the ABC rug for my son, and he loved it especially when he was learning the alphabet, he would jump to each letter and we made game of it. My birthday is July 23rd and I always felt when my bday hit, summer was winding down because we would start thinking back to school, and helping my mom cut out gumball machines for her 4th grade class, as they read books the kids earned gumballs so when it was filled they received a special prize, and other teacher stuff she needed to start school. Your kids are darling, and it looks like you’re having a fun summer. Stay cool!
I love the Weranna ABC Seasons rug. Shows the seasons, dates of the week, alphabet with a corresponding picture of an object, and bright and colorful without being too vivid!
I LOOOVE your nice & organized kid space!!!! I am pretty jealous cuz I am NOT an organized person at all. HAHAHA!!!! I absolutely LOVE the first rug in your choices…Early Blocks Kids Rug. Your kids are just adorable!!!!
Aww thank you so much!! After I had organized everything I realized I should have taken a “before” picture, gah!
