The Weekend Dish: 9/20/2014

Happy Saturday to you!

I hope you have a great weekend in store; we’ve had a busy, busy week here, and I’m relishing the fact that we have zero commitments for the weekend. I’m looking forward to a lot of couch time, doing some crocheting (the rainbow baby blanket I started months ago is coming along!), and playing around in the kitchen a bit. What do you have planned?

As always, you’ll find a recap of what was posted to the site this week as well as some bookmarked recipes from other blogs. Enjoy!

On Brown Eyed Baker This Week

Peanut Butter & Jelly Cookie Bars – Peanut butter cookie dough pressed into a bar pan and swirled with grape jelly.

Apple, Gruyere and Sage Scones – Tender and flaky scones filled with chopped apple, Gruyere cheese and fresh sage.

Maple-Apple Pie with Walnut Crumble Topping – Fresh apple pie with swirls of real maple syrup and a crumble topping studded with walnuts.

Creamy Caramelized Onion & Roasted Garlic Dip – This tastes like a hot, bubbling dish of French onion dip. One of my new favorites!

Friday Things – A couple of videos, some useful links and tips, and of course, new pictures of Duke and Einstein!

Duke can't possibly have enough toys

What I Bookmarked This Week

Recipes and posts from other blogs that I thought looked especially delicious and that I thought you would like, too:

Cinnamon Maple Gooey Butter Cake (The Baker Chick)
What a phenomenal fall spin on traditional gooey butter cake. Just throw a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top for me!

Glazed German Chocolate Bundt Cake (Confessions of a Cookbook Queen)
I absolutely adore German chocolate cake, and this bundt version looks like it would be an awesome, less fussy option.

Healthy Cinnamon Sugar Apple Muffins (Pinch of Yum)
These muffins look incredible – I love the topping! And healthy to boot? I’ll take three please.

Pesto Cheese Bread (Two Peas and Their Pod)
These look like old-school French bread pizzas, but I am willing to bet that they taste a million times better!

Pumpkin Cake with Cinnamon Cream Cheese Frosting (Cooking Classy)
Yes, pumpkin! I love the combination of pumpkin and cream cheese, and that cinnamon in the frosting is genius.

Have a delicious weekend!
