Friday Things #547

1. Halloween fun last night! This year we had a football player, Optimus Prime, and a black cat 😄
2. I realized a couple of days ago that for the last two years, Dominic and I have had to leave for New York the day after Halloween, either for a treatment cycle or scans. While I was always so thankful that they were able to work it out so he could still participate in Halloween at home, I am feeling extra grateful this year for longer stretches of normalcy and everyday life together.
3. Isabelle enjoyed a post-gymnastics, late-in-the-season ice cream cone stop last week 😋

4. I’ve had this steamer for years and use it occasionally, but this week used it for multiple kid things and was reminded of how much I absolutely love it. It’s a fantastic alternative to busting out the ironing board and iron.
5. A quick kitchen tip I shared on Instagram yesterday… I was cutting brownies this week and always marvel at how much better a plastic knife is at cutting than a “regular” sharp knife. No messy crumbs and clean cuts every time! I always use one of these knives (my kids each have a set).
6. I had my annual eye exam earlier this week and was overdue for getting my eyes dilated so went ahead and did it and oof, I was reminded of just how uncomfortable that is.

7. Always love lists like this for reminders on how to keep things reined in and from getting too out of control >> 10 Things Clutter-Free People Do Every Day
8. Congratulations to everyone rooting for the LA Dodgers to win the World Series! The boys were so excited to be able to watch the beginning of the games this past week.
9. We just finished watching The Tourist on Netflix, which started out intriguing and suspenseful, but then it got a little strange? It wasn’t awful, but wasn’t one of our favorites, either.
10. TGIF! That sweet sun spot ☀️

Love the costumes. They look so good.
#7- I am one of those who does not like clutter. And while I never thought about it intentionally, I absolutely do all of those things listed! Everything gets put away in its place and the house is always tidy. If I happen to buy a new “decor” item, then something else gets put away.
Does Judith even know that shehas such a beautiful sweet face?
The kids costumes are great although I am having a hard time figurimg out how Dominic can even move…all that bulk.
Have a great “set the clocks back ” weekend.
Could you please describe HOW you use your steamer? I have one, but using it horizontally drips water everywhere, and trying to steam something hanging just leads to the garment swinging and me chasing it with the steamer.
Funny, I have been tempted to purchase a steamer but then I think about how one uses it and I come up with the problems you just described.
Hi Kate, I use it with things hanging… I haven’t had an issue with things swinging, I just hold the steamer up very, very close to the garment and slowly go over it. If I need to do a sleeve, I hold it up with one hand and steam with the other. I hope that helps!
