Friday Things #586

1. Hello and welcome to a long-overdue Friday Things! I’ll start with a quick update on Dominic… he returned to school following the completion of radiation treatment two weeks ago, which seemed to be so, so good for him. We also got to finally celebrate his birthday properly with a party for our families, AND he got to enjoy Halloween and go trick or treating :)
He has been admitted to our local hospital this week for another cycle of immunotherapy + low-dose chemo (the first cycle of which he received while we were in NY prior to radiation). The next step will be for him to have multiple scans the week after Thanksgiving to see how those two spots responded to the chemo/immunotherapy and radiation. We are praying that they have been resolved 🙏🏻
2. Are you ready for Thanksgiving? I’ll be sending out many emails in the coming weeks with planning tips, menu ideas, and lots of recipes! What are your favorite things to make for Thanksgiving?
3. I had to laugh last week because Joseph was telling me a story about how he and his friends were talking about Anthony Edwards, and I immediately thought, “Wow! I’m impressed that they know the actor who played Goose on Top Gun (and the doctor on ER)”. Turns out, I’m just old and he’s a popular basketball player 😂🤷🏻♀️

5. Speaking of “the good ol’ days”, I really enjoyed this long profile piece on Keri Russell. I LOVED watching Felicity in college, and then The Americans became one of our favorite shows.
6. I made my first batch of chili last weekend, and it absolutely hit the spot. More cold weather is on the way this week, so I’m sure my Dutch oven will be getting a workout!
7. Speaking of, I also made this sausage, kale, and white bean soup last week and LOVED it. It was really hearty and had great flavor.
8. Has anyone gone to see Back to the Future in theaters for the 40th (what?!!) anniversary? It was one of my all-time favorite movies when I was younger!
9. What are you currently watching? I’ve been home so infrequently since the beginning of September that my husband and I haven’t gotten into anything new. We’ve been watching some new episodes of Mayor of Kingstown and Tulsa King, though!
10. TGIF! Have a relaxing weekend!

Oh,so good to see an email from you! Especially one with positive news- Dominic and all of you have been in my prayers. I hope his next treatment goes smoothly and good news follows. I am definitely looking forward to your Thanksgiving ideas. Loved this post and reminders to take a breath, slow down and connect in person with others. Happy Weekend!
What great Halloween costumes! So happy to get this update on Dominic. Your family has been in my prayers. I truly pray the scans are clear and that you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving and Christmas. I will look forward to your tasty treat updates as well. I can’t believe Thanksgiving is less than three weeks away.
Domenic and your family have stayed in my prayers. Thanks for the update.
