Friday Things #600

1. Fall sports all finished up within the last week, and I’m hoping that leaves us with maybe at least one week free before basketball starts for everyone 🙃 Hockey is already in full swing, but our kids do not do travel hockey, they play in an “in-house/rec” league, which consists of one practice + one game each weekend, which is perfect for us.
2. With fall winding down, I am VERY ready for some cooler temperatures so we can finally say goodbye to bugs! I’m bitter about the fact that I got stung at a cross country meet THROUGH a long-sleeve shirt and then got an itchy bug bite at a softball game THROUGH leggings. I’m over it!
3. I’ve been a little behind on Friday Things since Dominic did a round of immunotherapy at the beginning of October. The oncology department is on the 9th floor, which is the top of the hospital, so we often see/hear the life flight helicopters coming and going on the roof. The room we had this last time was positioned in such a way that we could REALLY hear them, and they came and went all day long. It was sobering for me; even though we were in there for Dominic’s cancer treatment, all I could think about were people whose babies and kids were in those helicopters being rushed to that building and how terrified they must be.
4. We’re well into fall here, but I still enjoyed this article >> How to Autumn Like the French Do
5. As someone who often has analysis paralysis and is chronically indecisive, this spoke to me:
“The sooner you make a choice, the sooner you can make an adjustment.”
6. If the holidays seem to arrive at full tilt and you’re never ready, this is a great list of things that you can get a jump on now to make December feel less crazy >> 14 Tasks to Tackle Now to Make the Holidays Easy Later
7. I had a dentist appointment last week for a cleaning (and unfortunately will need to go back to take care of a couple of things 👎🏻), and I have my dermatologist checkup next week, a PCP checkup the week after. I wanted to give you a little nudge that as uncomfortable and annoying as some of these appointments are (I loathe them, truly), be sure to schedule your annual checkups!
8. Do you have a go-to meal or dessert that you make every fall? Or once the temperatures dip? Or the first snowfall? I love food traditions and would love to hear about some of yours for this season!
9. I am still working my way through The Calamity Club; I like it but it hasn’t been a fast read for me. What are you currently reading?
10. TGIF! We are all enjoying long walks on these gorgeous fall days!

Fall in in Colorado about to end too, wish the weather could last a bit longer but seems life pushes us along
Apple galette with pecans to ease into fall and sorting out fall favourites, always love the food switch over.
Happy you are having a period of normal live. 💕💕🙏🙏🙏🙏
Thank you for this! “ “The sooner you make a choice, the sooner you can make an adjustment.”
I feel you!
The Calamity Club…great book!
I’m reading That Night ny McCallister. Slow at first but now can’t put it down!
So happy to hear about Dominic. Truly a special soul.
Hugs to your sweet puppy.
I am excited for the change of weather- fall has finally begun to show up here in the south. I love the quote about making a choice- copying it and posting it on my bulletin board! I have sadly procrastinated my way through the summer months and now way behind on household tasks that I wanted done before the holiday season begins. Thank you for this Wake Up notice!😊 Happy Weekend
I see you have a Golden Retreiver. You might enjoy Dean Koontz novels that focus on that beloved breeds namely, “Watchers”. Just imagine being able to communicate with your dog…it’s a fascinating book and not too far fetched.
