Friday Things #515
1. I am happy to share that Dominic underwent outpatient surgery early on Monday morning to have his central line removed. The procedure was pretty quick, there were no complications, and he was home before lunchtime. He’ll have another week or so for the site to heal and then will have no restrictions. I’m pretty certain he feels free as a bird 😄💙 Thank you for all of your prayers and well wishes!
2. A couple of weeks ago, Isabelle had a piece of bacon on her breakfast plate that she didn’t finish. She proceeded to get a baggie, write her name on it with a sharpie, and then dropped the bacon in and put it in the refrigerator. Later that day, she took it out to eat and oh my gosh, I loved this on so many levels! Love that she claimed her bacon and she wanted to make sure no one else ate it, and also that she thought through doing all of that herself!
3. Joseph was hit with another bout of strep over the weekend; luckily this time it didn’t spread to anyone else! He had a sweet pup that spent a lot of time on the couch with him ❤️
4. I don’t need a new jigsaw puzzle yet, but I saw this Blockbuster Era Puzzle, and my goodness, it is basically a picture of my entire youth!
5. I love the shift of perspective here >> The Seven Laws of Success
6. Are you doing anything to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day on Sunday? If you’re looking for food (especially desserts!), check out all of my St. Patrick’s Day recipes. I think I’m going to make a batch of shamrock-shaped cut-out sugar cookies ☘️
7. I am on the hunt for comfortable pajamas for myself… do you have any recommendations? Preferably not the button/collared style… either crew neck or tank tops with shorts or light pajama pants.
8. Need a jump-start on spring cleaning? This list is a great place to start >> 9 Things to Reduce in Your Home to Save You Time
9. We are still watching Reign, but saw that Oppenheimer is now available to watch on Peacock, so we will add that to the list! Have you seen it yet?
10. TGIF! Such exhaustion 😂
Yay for Dominic!
Lake pajamas! They’re the best, they’ve basically replaced all my others!
Lake pajamas are the bomb. I have several, both shorts and long pants.
Congratulations to Dominic, a brave little boy. May he have a great summer. Hoping Joseph is feeling better. My PBS station had all 6 episodes of Magpie Murders & of course I had to watch all 6. They were over at 2AM & Today I feel like your pup falling off its bed. :)
I am so happy for Dominic getting his central line removed. I am sure that he so happy to have it removed. Also, that he has no restriction.
I have a great love for your children, especially Dominic. He is such a blessing to me. Whenever I feel sad all I do is look at these kids. They are like a fresh breath of air & sunshine. And, your dogs? Beautiful!! God is so good.
I enjoy keeping updated & I continue my Prayers for you & your family.
Happy St. Patrick’s Day.
Betsy
So happy for Dominic! Hope he has a wonderful spring and summer getting back into all those things he missed out on doing because of his line. A time for celebration!
I personally love flannelette pyjamas with the buttons down the front. Someone mentioned PJ Salvage which I recently became aware of in Canada. Gorgeous stuff but a bit expensive and probably worth it. Time will tell.
So cute of Isabelle to save her bacon and eat it later on. No wasting food there. You’ve taught her well. Although maybe one of the dogs would have received it if she hadn’t saved it for herself.
Just finished watching Expats which I enjoyed. Now looking for something good. Maybe season 2 of True Detective.
My son had strep throat again and again until a follow-up swab test came back positive and he went back to the antibiotic for 2 more weeks. The infections stopped and he never had another. Good luck to Joseph.
Congratulations to Dominic! He has been through so much and yet he’s kept this adorable smile. I bet he will have a growth spurt now and surprise everybody at how big he’ll get.
Wishing happiness and good health to you all.
Blessings to you and your wonderful family. I continue to keep Dominic in my prayers. You have had some rough times Michelle, you are a great mom. Hope Joseph gets well soon.
I am so happy for Dominic!!!!!!❤🙏 Hope Joseph is feeling better soon! Isabelle is growing up so fast. Have you tried Macy’s for light PJ’s?
Little Sleepies pj’s are super comfy! And loads of fun designs to choose from. For kids and adults.
Congratulations Dominic. You’re such a warrior! Get well prayers for Joseph.
Hi Michelle, I am so happy to hear about Dominic’s healthy update. I can only imagine how you all, as a family, are feeling now. May the good news and health continue.
Pajamas, I really like the comfort, fit and softness of Cuddle Duds; I usually find them at Kohl’s and they are reasonably priced.
Oppenheimer; loooong film, all dialogue and found myself wishing/thinking it was over long before it actually was. The film could really have used editing by at least 30 minutes.
I agree, I love Soma pajamas, especially Cool Nights. I also love their Embracebles but these are usually button down the front. Congratulations for Dominic, best wishes for a healthy year for your family.
My heart is full of joy for Dominic & all of you!
What a blessing…..a few more days!!
Am sure he can’t wait!!
Feel better! Joseph!! Being sick is no fun!
And Isabelle?!?! How resourceful! You go, girl
Happy St. Patrick’s Day..☘️ Sla’inte 🇮🇪
and…..
Viva San Giuseppe, too!! 🇮🇹
Draper James pjs are so comfy! Congrats to your kiddo!
SOMA pj’s are a dream and last forever!
So happy for Dominic!!! Time to be a kid without limits. Hoping Joseph is feeling better and yay Isabelle!
While Oppenheimer was very well made, be prepared to doze off a few times during this very long, technical film. Even my husband the engineer got lost a few times. But overall, everyone should see it.
I’m so thankful for Dominic’s report, thank you Jesus. Our prayers have been answered.

I love those jammies! I paid full price from the company. Cuddl Duds returns are the easiest ever, too.
I am happy Domenic had his line taken out. Been keeping you and your family in prayer through your journey. Have great days, Michelle.
So happy that Dominic’s outpatient surgery went well. He has been such a brave, strong boy throughout everything. I am happy Joseph is feeling better, he had a nice companion to help him feel better during his sickness. :)
Isabelle is growing up so fast, how adorable!
For PJ’s, I think Macy’s usually has some nice options. Also I sometimes buy them from Soma, I have some I bought several years ago and they are still going strong, very soft and comfortable!
I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend and no one else gets sick. :)
Michele. Several weeks ago I requested a change in my email address. Since then I’ve not received any emails from you. I really enjoy hearing about your family & have missed how Dominic is doing. I’ll give you my new address again. Hope to start hearing from you again.
Re pajamas. I’m like you, in that I prefer crewnecks, no buttons. I find Target has some nice, comfy, soft pj’s, that also aren’t too hot feeling at night. Good luck!
Woo-hoo – great news on Dominic’s surgery! Glad Joseph is doing better. And precious Isabelle saving HER bacon – so sweet! You’ve got three great kids thanks to their great mom! Happy St. Pat’s Day!!
Yay Dominic!! Go, Baby, go!!!
When my son, Nick had repeated strep his pediatrician recommended repeated gargling with Listerine each day. It keeps the population down and may shorten or prevent future strep. Worked for us ! 🚀
Dominic’s news must be such a relief for the entire family, and it is the answer to so many prayers!
I have purchased Tommy John lounge sets for my daughter-in-law, and she loves them.
Sleep Sense pjs at Dillards – stores or online.
SO happy to hear that Dominic successfully had his central line removed. What an answer to prayer!! It is wonderful to see his progress and how he is starting to be able to get back to normal childhood life. Also, I saw Oppenheimer last summer as part of the Barbenheimer weekend, along with the Barbie movie. It’s pretty long (take a break or breaks partway thru if you need to) but quite interesting, history-wise!
I couldn’t get into Oppenheimer. Within a half hour I turned it off. Too boring for me.
When my son was about 7 or 8 he had multiple ear infections and strep throat in a short period of time – like five times in three months. Our pediatrician said after the last round of antibiotics he needed to take a probiotic for a year (starting the year over if he took a new antibiotic). She recommended Klaire Labs Ther-Biotic For Infants Probiotic and he hasn’t been sick since!
For pajamas – I love Soma. Super comfy and they are well made. So happy for Dominic and your family. May the Lord bless and keep you all!
Love reading this every Friday! I recommend PJ Savage – lots of choices and they last for years. I think the PJ pants I’m wearing (with doggie paw prints) are celebrating their sixth year.
Hi Michelle,
I like Soma Cool Nights pajamas. Have worn them for years. Last forever and very comfortable.
Michelle- We have 4 kids and two of them had recurrent strep. We finally ended up at the ENT for a consultation. The physician recommended that we treat both kids with an extended dose of antibiotics and included rifampin with the PEN VK. I am not a huge fan of prolonged antibiotics, but I also didn’t want to jump right to a tonsillectomy. I was pleasantly surprised that it worked! Both of the kids remained strep free for years.
Hoping Joseph is feeling better soon!
Great news for Dominic!
I hope Joseph feels better soon. My son had strep almost constantly and they kept treating it, but he became antibiotic resistant. I had to push hard, but when my pediatrician gave me a pediatric ENT, they found his tonsils, like mine were at his age, had deep holes in them and that’s why the strep virus was always coming back. They were treating the surface which acted like a band aid. Once his tonsils came out, we’ve had no more strep.
I have Oppenheimer marked to watch too!
Have a happy St Patrick’s Day and weekend!
Sooo very happy to hear of Dominic’s good news!! He, and all of your family are in my prayers. Thank you for sharing your family. Have a blessed day.
I love Cozy Earth Pajamas. Certainly not inexpensive but the softest, most comfortable ever and you can set them without shrinking them.
Personally, being the history fanatic I am, I could not get thru “Reign” for innumerable reasons I won’t get into least I go into a rant! If you like historical dramas, my absolute favorite is “Wolf Hall” originally on PBS but I think streaming elsewhere now.
So happy Dominic’s central line is out and he is in remission. Praying it stays that way!
As for Joseph, I am sorry he has a second round of strep! Did you change his toothbrush after the first round? If not, he may have become reinfected from his toothbrush. People don’t realize you need to throw out your toothbrush and get a new one with strep, respiratory infections and flu. (I’m a PNP and tell my patients this all the time)
Isabelle is so cute!
Great news on Dominic! I am so so happy for him and continued prayers for you all. He has gone through a lot for such a young guy. So sorry Joseph is going through another round of strep. My 7 year old grandson has had the flu plus another nasty virus all within the past month. Hoping everyone gets and stays healthy very soon. I’m right there with Isabelle on the coveted bacon ;) We will definitely be celebrating St. Paddy’s day this weekend. Starting tonight with Irish whiskey glazed salmon, tomorrow Shepherd’s pie and Sunday, crock pot corned beef and cabbage. I may do the frosted shamrock cookies and maybe a single layer green velvet cake. By the way there are only two of us, so lots of yummy leftovers.
I L.O.V.E. Isabella’s bacon trick. Smart girl. I was one of seven kids growing up- any food not consumed right away was always fair game for someone else. Congratulations to Dominic- he has been through a lot for such a little boy. Hope Joseph is better. Prayers continue for your family.
