Friday Things #526

1. Dominic has been talking about wanting to be a goalie for well over a year now and he played goalie during the boy’s spring dek hockey season, but last week he had his first-ever on-ice practice session. It was so fun to see him out there!
2. Isabelle would have been a stellar contestant on Supermarket Sweep lol! (It was a dream of mine as a kid!)

3. The boys are done with school for the year and ahhhh everyone is so excited to kick off summer break! This year seems to have flown by, I’m not sure where the months went (although late November through February did seem like a slog at the time with all of the illnesses that kept ravaging our house, happy for fresh air and sunshine now!).
4. And the kids asked for their first summer breakfast to be buttermilk waffles; easy yes!
5. I finished reading Just for the Summer last week and LOVED it! I really enjoyed all of the Abby Jimenez books that I’ve read; they are perfect for heading into summer reading.
6. Well over a month ago, Isabelle took a clementine to school for a snack and came home with a seed in a baggie; she had found it in the clementine and saved it so we could plant it because she wanted “to grow an orange tree”. We did and I honestly didn’t think anything would happen, but after a few weeks, it sprouted! There are two huge sprouts growing (she added another couple of seeds in subsequent days as she found them) and I’m amazed! Hopefully they make it; usually plants that cross my path aren’t long for this world, eeek.
7. What is on your summer bucket list? What are you most looking forward to doing this summer? Our kids are excited about mini golf, ice cream cones, blueberry picking, and baseball games!

8. A couple of great nuggets from the most recent James Clear newsletter:
“It’s never the right time, but right now is usually the best time.”
“A simple rule that makes life easier: Always strive to give value before you ask for value.”
9. We watched Trigger Point over the last week and it was SO GOOD. One of my recent favorites! We’re currently watching After the Flood, which is also good!
10. TGIF!ย Freshly groomed pups! And yes, Duke is wearing a brace; he injured his ACL awhile back, got a little better, then seemed to have re-aggravated it, so he got fitted for a brace. He’s doing great!

Have you read any of Nan Rossiter’s books? I think you’d enjoy them . Trying to remember which one has the golden retriever… Maybe Promises of the Heart? Great summer reads. She has a couple of children’s books also but perhaps too young for your gang. Enjoy the summer! (I’m in England and still wearing a down jacket and hat – it’s 40ยฐ! ). Hopefully warming up this week
.
My son was goalie when he was little ย first or second grade so much fun to watch. I also as a working mom it was one practice and one game a week and all the kids got to play . Both my boys played a great activity.ย
Hard to keep a golden or any active dog quiet while healing that injury, praying she will soo be able to be her โfullโ self again
May it be a wonderful and blessed summer all of u deserve it๐
Dominic makes a cute goalie! Sorry about Duke’s injury. Lately your pix only showed one of the pups & I was afraid that one had gone over the rainbow bridge. Glad they’re both still with you. Have a great summer!!
