Friday Things #587

1. Hello and happy Friday! It’s been a while since I popped in on a Friday, much overdue! Have you been buried in snow? Wow, it’s been awhile since our area got so much snow in one winter, and it’s been enjoyable!
2. I’ve received many messages asking about Dominic – here is a quick update! He had cycles of treatment in January and then in early February, both of which went smoothly. He is scheduled to have a full-body scan next week to check disease status and determine next steps moving forward. Please pray with us that the relapsed spots are now clear 🙏🏻 He is feeling really good!
3. We have an Olympics hangover here; we enjoyed watching so much and did so every evening after dinner. It was a really fun little tradition. Did you have any favorite events? I think our kids enjoyed the speed skating, snowboard cross, and the half pipe the best! Isabelle loved the biathlon where they skiied and did shooting, oh and we all liked the head-to-head moguls… and hockey, of course! So many fun things to watch.
4. Have you read any good books yet this year? So far I’ve finished:
- The Winners (the third book in the Beartown series by Fredrik Backman; HIGHLY recommend anything he writes!)
- Carrie Soto is Back (okay, would give it 4 stars)
- One Golden Summer (Carley Fortune’s first book, Every Summer After, was one of my favorite books a few years ago and this one was great, too)
- Currently reading: Buckeye (I’m not very far into it yet!)
5. Speaking of books, did you see that Netflix is doing an adaptation of The God of the Woods? I read it last year, it was SUCH a good book!

6. If you need some meat-free dinner options for Lent this year, here are a few great options:
- Homemade Pierogies
- Beer Battered Cod
- Tuna Noodle Casserole
- Homemade Fish Sticks
- Coconut Shrimp with Mango Sauce
- Crab Cakes with Remoulade Sauce
7. Such a great mindset shift >> “New goals don’t deliver new results. New lifestyles do. And a lifestyle is a process, not an outcome. For this reason, all of your energy should go into building better habits, not chasing better results.” (from the James Clear newsletter)
8. While we are (maybe?) on the backend of winter and heading toward spring, this read really resonated with me and made so much sense >> The Art of Wintering
9. What are you watching now that the Olympics are over? We’re currently watching the new season of Night Agent.
10. TGIF! Have a cozy weekend!

Really enjoyed this Friday roundup—there’s a nice mix of personal updates, fun moments, and interesting recommendations. Posts like this always feel more genuine because they capture everyday experiences instead of just headlines. It also reminds me of Golf Hit, where simple and relaxing gameplay can unexpectedly become the most enjoyable part of the day.
