Friday Things #595

1. Dominic signed up for school band and is playing the trumpet 😍 My father-in-law played the trumpet and still had his original one; it’s in great shape, so Dominic is able to use it!
2. Next week, Dominic will head into the hospital for another round of immunotherapy. This will be the second round of the three additional his oncologist wanted him to complete. He’s had a nice break and didn’t even need weekly blood work this time. He started running cross country again and did his hockey evaluations for the upcoming season. Feeling very grateful that even though we still have two inpatient stays, life is looking much more normal than it did this time last year 🙏🏻
3. We only got to the fifth day of school before I had to pick up a sick kid from the nurse’s office 🫠 Luckily, it was short-lived and doesn’t appear to have hit anyone else here (*knocks on wood*), so phew!
4. Even though it was around 90 for multiple days this week, Joseph said he would love some chicken noodle soup, so I made a big pot, and it totally hit the spot for him. I was going to freeze a lot of it, but my husband and I have been enjoying it, so it may not make it to the freezer!
5. Speaking of freezing soup, I want to put my Souper Cubes to better use this fall and winter! If you have them, what are your favorite things to freeze in them? I chopped up the extra rotisserie chicken I had from the soup and packed it into the 1-cup sections for future meals.
6. Loved these little nuggets of wisdom from an interview with Will Shortz, the crossword editor at the New York Times >> 7 Things I Learned From Will Shortz
7. From a recent James Clear newsletter:
“The measure of a life is not what you consume, but what you contribute.
Spend less time owning, consuming, taking. Spend more time giving, creating, making.”
8. We had non-stop rain and storms for hours yesterday morning, and it was so cozy; I feel like we didn’t have many summer storms this year, so it was nice to hear the rumble of thunder for so long yesterday!
9. We’ve been watching The Undeclared War (on Peacock), and it’s so good… It’s about analysts trying to identify and stop cyberattacks. Definitely recommend!
10. TGIF! My cozy girls wish you a wonderful weekend!

Michelle it made my heart so happy to see how good Dominic looks and to hear how he’s doing. I will continue to pray for him and the family. Lots of love.

Happy Friday! Love the joy in Dominic’s activities! Will continue to keep y’all in my prayers! Have also enjoyed a few thunderstorms and break from the heat- watching For All Mankind on AppleTV – space exploration – think you’d enjoy it! 😊
I like the boy in the picture playing the trumpet and he is very talented in playing the instrument!,today.Keep it up in playing!bye from chris kostos
I love my Souper Cubes I have the 2 cup and 1 cup trays. I use them when I make homemade chicken stock and tomato sauce! After the liquid freezes I transfer the blocks into ziplock bags.
Souper Cubes are great! I use mine a lot to freeze individual servings of large batches recipes since my husband and I are empty nesters. A trick that I came up with, and use every time, is to line each cube with a piece of plastic wrap that is big enough to overlap the food on top too. Then when I pop them out after freezing, they release quickly, I can put several in a Ziplock bag to go back in the freezer, and the cubes are almost always still clean!
Dominic looks so handsome in that photo. So glad for your family that things are better than last year. Continued prayers for your family.
Love reading friday things again :) Prayers for your little family, so glad Dominic is feeling better. Have a great Long weekend!
