Friday Things
1. This sweet pea is going to be 13 months old on Monday; she’s looking so much older lately! And her hair is growing like crazy, so I finally rocked some pigtails in her hair :)
2. My inlaws got the boys big wheels for when they go over to their house; Dominic is still a little small for it, but they both LOVE THEM!
3. I’ve finally managed to shed three babies’ worth of baby weight, so I went to the mall (solo!) after dropping Joseph off at school earlier this week to get a few new things and after an hour and a half was reminded that I actually hate shopping lol. Gah, online shopping forever and ever, amen. Hauling tons of stuff into a dressing room, trying everything on… it’s EXHAUSTING. I never liked it when I was younger (my mom could never believe it), and I think I probably like it even less now, ha!
4. Are you watching the Kentucky Derby this weekend? I love the pomp and circumstance, but ahhhhh I always get so nervous for the horses :(
5. Love this >> Let Your Kids Get Dirty
6. Sunday is Cinco de Mayo! Are you celebrating with Mexican food and margaritas? If you’re looking for menu ideas, check out my 18 Recipes to Celebrate Cinco de Mayo. (p.s. the margarita cupcakes are legendary!)
7. Interesting article on how things are shifting on Instagram. If you’re on Instagram, what types of content do you connect with the most?
8. Question: What’s your all-time favorite recipe on BEB??
9. Ahhhhh Game of Thrones on Sunday was insane. I usually multitask while we watch TV in the evening, folding laundry, working, catching up on email, etc. HOWEVER… I literally could not do a single other thing once the battle scene started. I was totally riveted and couldn’t focus on anything else.
10. TGIF! I hope you have a cozy weekend!
Your chocolate pb cookies!!
Love to see everyone growing and doing well. I am sad that you don’t like shopping, online is fine but think about all the people who are losing jobs and malls closing because of online shopping. Malls pay taxes and employ a variety of people, people who maintain the building and grass, the food courts etc. Amazon does not pay its fair share of taxes and gets so many tax breaks and concessions. Sorry, to be political but I just worry about losing those jobs for people who need them and the experience of shopping. Wishing you and your beautiful family all the best, have a great Mother’s Day!

My husband and I are obsessed with your Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream, except we hold the chips and instead top it with your Homemade Magic Shell (little bit of chocolate on top for him, lots for me!). Favorite summer treat!
Hmmm, Irish Car Bomb cupcakes (although I know you had to change this to a more PC name – I can’t remember it) are probably my favorite BEB recipe (and my book club’s favorite too!). Margarita cupcakes are another favorite. Anyone else see a trend?
Favorite recipe(s)
THE BEST MEAT SAUCE. EVER It’s now the ONLY recipe I use to make a meat sauce.
CHEESY BAKED TORTELLINI With the store bought tortellini it’s like making a reconstructed lasagna!
Your children are adorable. I’m guessing your oldest son looks like his dad. Your middle son and daughter look like you.
Thank you for all the nice stories and recipes you share.
I look at your photos and it brings back memories of when my girls were that age.
You are right it does go super fast, so hang on as long as you can!
My favorite BEB recipe? Have to list a few! Fontina Bacon Wrapped Dates; Homemade Bailey’s Irish Cream; Pecan Pie Bars; and my most recent fave Garlic Herb and Parmesan Roasted Potatoes.
My two favorites are the cheesy corn casserole and the oreo balls!
Isabel is such a doll! She’s really growing into herself and I love the weekly pictures. The boys are just too cute on their wheels….lol about Dominic ….he will grow into it. I too hate to shop and I usually come home empty handed and depressed as all get out because of lack of choices I want. No plans for Cinco – might go out to eat but don’t know yet. Have a great weekend!
I love so many of your recipes, but your hot corn dip has become a family favorite, and I’ve shared the recipe countless times!
Michelle my favorite BEB recipe is your snicker doodle bars! Hands down my goto recipe!
Xo

All your recipes are great—can’t pick a favorite. Love the pigtails and the photos of your adorable family.
I love your website including your family stories & pictures, your product recommendations, and your delicious recipes.
I love a couple of your recipes that have not been mentioned:
My go-to appetizer from your website is the spinach artichoke dip. Recently I have been making the Dark Chocolate Chip (Chunks) & Walnut Banana Bread. Love that recipe and I like to keep a loaf of that bread in the freezer for last minute occasions. Although I haven’t made them for a while, I loved the chocolate chip cookie bars. Finally I always use your recent recipe for meatloaf – very tasty. The recipe is similar to what I’ve used but I never used soda cracker crumbs and I think that made a difference.
I love shopping in stores and do a little too much if that!
I love your Friday posts and catching up with your family!
My favorite BEB recipes are the Mashed Potatoes and the Chocolate Crinkle Sprinkle Cookies. Also very fond of the Pepperoni Bites (making them for a potluck at work next week) and the Antipasto Squares ☺️
Have a great weekend!
I hate shopping too. My sister only wears clothes once or twice and gets rid of them. Sooo I take her clothes. I get nice new clothes that I don’t have to pay for. I prefer tee shirts or tank tops and jeans. No reason to get dressed up cooking, cleaning, and chasing after kids all day.
All-time favorite BEB recipe is cheesy garlic bread. Once I made it, I never looked back and I never, ever used store-bought again. Everyone loves it!
Favorite recipe you posted
New York Times 72 hour salted chocolate chip cookie recipe
And
buffalo chicken dip recipe
You make it difficult. I went through the list of my favorites for an hour and, finally, decided Chocolate Crinkle Cookies are my favorite. You forced me to eliminate all the other great recipes. Love you, the kids and the dogs. Best of luck in the future. Wish I could lose some pounds; what did you do?
Ahhh those crinkles are great! I honestly didn’t follow any program, didn’t count calories, just tried to eat A LOT more veggies, drink A LOT of water, and cut back on snacks/sweets (although still eat a piece of dark chocolate every night!).
OUR fave BEB recipe is a toss up between the Chipotle Chicken Corn Chowder & the Restaurant Style Salsa. I make both ALL THE TIME. They are both often requested by fam & friends. Everyone asks me for the salsa recipe.
I hate in-store shopping, too. It’s so frustrating! I’d much rather pick out a boatload of stuff, try it on in my own master, and figure out what shoes work with it (or don’t), than constantly get dressed and undressed only to end up with NOTHING.
Michelle, Your children are adorable, especially your sweet little daughter. Just looking at her picture brings a smile to my face. I used to enjoy shopping in the stores, but not so much anymore. I find that I just don’t have the stamina to deal with it all, so 98% of the time, I order online. I hope that you and your family all have a wonderful and relaxing weekend.
No way to pick just one! All recipes tried have become favorites. Top three: your Meyer lemon-raspberry scones are legendary with family and friends. The homemade rum cake became an instant hit (my mom, who doesn’t drink, went bananas over it), and my sister has added your mushroom lasagna to her regular rotation. Almost forgot your intro to The Baked Brownie – OMG! Keep ’em coming!
And my S.O. is bonkers for the Kentucky Derby, so we will be glued tomorrow. I do love to see all the hats and frills, but also get nervous for the horses! Wishing them perfect weather!
All time favorite Broccoli Salad Recipe
https://www.browneyedbaker.com/broccoli-salad-recipe/
My 42 year old son loved his Big Wheels. Could not remember what it was called.
My favorite recipe would proably be Buckeyes.
My fave recipe is your Hot Fudge Sauce. I make it a lot! I’m totally against horse racing. I don’t like shopping as much as I used to. I mostly go to Winners because I love a bargain. I hate shopping for something specific for a specific occasion…then I can never find what I want. So much better if I walk by something that catches my eye and I love it. Your dogs are adorable.
Hi Michelle, I had to laugh at your shopping story. I HATE to shop (for everything but food), but I have a daughter who loves it. When my daughter was a teenager, we would go to a mall, I would plunk myself down in the foodcourt with a book, and send her off to buy her own back-to-school clothes. She would check in with me periodically. I just could not stand running around to all those stores, waiting for her to pick stuff out, try it on , etc, etc.
Picking my favorite recipe is like asking someone who their favorite child is. I guess if I had to choose, I would say the Buffalo Chicken dip. So delicious!
P.S. Those pigtails! Too cute!
1Big wheels! My brother and I wore the wheels off of ours when we were little. We rode them ALL the time!
The BEB recipe that I love and make the most are the Ultimate Triple Chip Brownies. By far my fave brownie recipe!
My favorite is the Peanut Butter Cup Crunch Brownies. I’ve made them for a lot of different people and they’re always gushed over. My second favorite is the Cherry Crisp.
The Magarhita cupcakes ARE legendary – I make them for our friends (May) birthday every year and everyone raves each time!
So many favorite recipes, but I love the Brownie Pudding! It’s just like a dessert served at a local restaurant, and I could never figure out how to replicate it – I was thrilled with how it turned out! I also dislike shopping, but am hesitant about the online shopping – I’m afraid I would have to return so many things!
Your site is one of the first I go to when looking for a recipe; I have so many favorites.
Anything peanut butter…my go to is the buckeye brownie. Love the antipasto squares and can’t tell you how many times I’ve made the Beef Mushroom Barley soup. Excited to try the margarita cupcakes (making them this weekend) Thank you so much for the great recipes!!!
Favorite BEB recipe? Oh decisions decisions….!
#1 Warm Black Bean Dip
#2 Buffalo Chicken Dip
#3 Copy Cat Chipotle Chicken
#4 Pasta Fagiole
Years ago I made your Warm Black Bean Dip for a family occasion–it was completely gone in 15 minutes. Now it is a staple at ALL family functions. It goes so fast that I finally began to triple the recipe !!
Another absolute fav is the Buffalo Chicken Dip…. a special request by family members of my best friend when I attend ALL of their family functions……again, I double or triple the recipe for the attendance of 20+ family/friends.
My husband’s new fav is your Chipotle Copy Cat Chicken……..
Mine is the Pasta Fagiole.
As for the big race……..I too have alway been a big follower of the upcoming derby, however, after reading the tragic stories of the 20+ horse deaths, I’ve learned a bit more on the behind the scenes of horse racing, became a bit more educated on the subject and finally made a conscious decision to no longer support the race as a fan.
Ditto as above…..sorry to be a bummer…
I’m sure I’m forgetting some, but I know for sure two of our favourite recipes from BEB: Philly Cheesesteak Sandwiches and Thick and Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookies! Your site is one of my go-tos for recipes and cooking inspiration.
My all time favorite and probably one of the first recipes from here that I made is the Peanut Butter-Oatmeal Chocolate Chip cookies!
I don’t know if I can pick just one??? I have tried so many recipes of yours. You are definitely my go-to blog! Maybe one from each category:
appetizer: hissy fit dip
main dish: copy cat chipotle chicken
bread: your grandma’s banana bread
cookie: peanut butter cup cookies
dessert: no bake peanut butter lovers ice box cake
Isabelle’s piggies (as we called them) reminds me of my daughter at that age…she’s 15 now but the pictures of I have of her with piggies are some of my favorites. Your girl is adorable. Also, I too am like you when it comes to shopping. Even as a kid I always had to know when and where lunch would be so I could endure the shopping. I’m even worse now as an adult! Have a great weekend!
So many great BEB recipes, but our fave is your father-in-law’s legendary meat sauce! That’s a regular staple in our house. I make it at least once a month & freeze in separate containers to pull out as needed.
My favorite recipe is the Giuness, whiskey, and Irish cream cupcakes. It’s the recipe that brought me to your blog and I make it several times a year. I’ve loved everything that I’ve made from this site.
Your site is one of the first I go to when looking for a recipe – I have a few favorites on here: thick and chewy chocolate chip cookies, margarita cupcakes (legendary for sure!), brownie cheesecake and the copycat chipotle chicken. I’m making the margarita cupcakes for my niece’s bachelorette party coming up.
No. 9 – Roasted Red Potatoes. Hands down the BEST!
Too many favorite recipes to name….I would say the most requested from my house are the Hummingbird Cake, PB cookies, chocolate chip cookies and the roasted red potatoes well and then there is the red sauce and the chili….okay I am going to stop now or else this will be a novel :-)
Red Velvet cupcake.
My favorite BEB recipe is scalloped potatoes. They are the best I’ve ever made.
Maple Date Bars, too.
What a beautiful picture of isabelle. She has grown so fast. Ivd never seen the Kentucky derby, probably never will. I just cant get on board with it after I’ve seen footage of how much the horses fight and resist going into their little stalls before racing. We have a racetrack out here in ca..Los alamitos racetrack and 23 horses have died just this year. You can read about it, just cruel. Sorry for the downer but I know you care about animals..me too. My favorite recipe that I make the most is your white chicken chili.
