Friday Things #385
1. I love when these three sit down and play together, it seriously makes my heart melt.
2. Isabelle is such a tough little girl, it amazes me! When she falls, she rarely melts down or cries; instead, she stands up and kisses whatever she bumped (knees, hands), says “I ok!” and runs off. I love her 💖
3. I feel like the boys have bonded so much over the last handful of months. They’ve started waking up in the morning and immediately playing together in each other’s rooms. We can hear them making up games and being silly, and it puts a huge smile on my face first thing in the morning 💙
4. I picked out a bunch of things from the Nordstrom anniversary sale but since I’m not a cardholder, I had to wait until this week to purchase and literally all but one thing was sold out 😭 Did you get anything?
5. The folks at Tastefully Simple sent me a package of goodies this week; it’s been a while since I’ve used some of their products and there were SO MANY amazing spice blends and mixes. If you want to grab anything from their website, you can enter the promo code BEB10 for 10% off your order now through 9/30/2020. If you get things from them regularly, I’d love to hear about your favorites!
6. I’ve been using cookie scoops for ages, but my new favorite recent purchase are these larger scoops (I’ve also learned that they’re called “dishers”) – a ⅓ cup scoop for my pancake batter and a ½ cup scoop for my waffles… LOVE them and wish I had gotten them sooner, makes scooping the batter so much easier!
7. Earlier this week while taking our morning walk, the sun was warm, the air was cool and crisp, and the sky was a crystal clear blue – a perfect late summer morning. Walking down a hill, I was overcome with feelings that the air, the sun, the sky… everything FELT exactly like the morning of 9/11. It amazes me that nearly 20 years later, I can still have such a surreal moment come to the front of my memory.
8. Did you hear about the supposed Dirty Dancing sequel that will star Jennifer Grey? I’ve seen the original countless times and I hope they do it justice!
9. If you have kids or grandchildren, I have a TV show recommendation! It may not be new to many; we discovered it on Disney+ a couple of months ago, but our kids are so infatuated with Bluey. My husband and I get a serious giggle from it and I love how much fun the dad, in particular, has with the kids. I loved this article talking about why the show is so great. A favorite in our house!
10. TGIF! I hope you have a relaxing weekend!
As a mother of four grown children, your posts bring back a lot of great memories for me. I miss my littles so much, but have been blessed with nice beautiful grandchildren. Thank you so much for your recipes and just sharing life with us.
It’s amazing you mentioned 9/11 – because I recently had the same feeling one recent morning. Your children are so adorable. I have three as well (now adults) and it’s still so wonderful to see them all laugh and have fun together.
I have 2 boys and then a girl, just like you. Mine are now 5, 7 and 9. We LOVE Bluey. It is the only cartoon I enjoy watching too.
Vollrath dishers are the best! The yellow #16 (4 oz – 1/4 cup) disher is the perfect size for cupcakes or muffins, and for pancakes too. I need to get a #8 (1/2 cup) disher for waffles – I always end up having to do two scoops with my yellow one!
Whoops. #16 is BLUE, not yellow (it’s a #20)! I have both and misremembered which was which!
Hello!
As a Mom of two adult children, I enjoy your “column” more than words may state. Thank you for you kind insight, bringing sheer joy and happiness at a time it is most needed.
My baby son Henry and his brother Teddy Ruxpin celebrated their eleventh birthday this week poolside in Las Vegas. They are from the same shelter in eastern Tennessee. Your carrot cake recipe for dogs became mini-muffins and they were a big hit!
All four pups enjoyed them! Three eleven years of age Papillons and one little Baby Girl long haired dachshund and long haired chihuahua! The “kids” and thank you as well as my daughter and I do, too.
Your kids are such amazing little people😊 all 3 are so special in their own way. My little great niece fell a couple of times recently with little to no crying. I was just thinking how you hardly ever see that….but then there’s miss Isabelle. Just love that strength and mindset. Oh well, just shake it off lol. Some of us adults could learn from these little brave girls.
I’ll never forget 9/11. Hard to believe its been that long..seems like it just happened in many ways. How united we all were back then in support of our country. You’re so tender hearted Michelle.
Sweet doggie pic. Maybe its too hot for them to be laying close like they so often do. Can’t say I blame them. We’ve been miserably hot in ca. We went over a 100 in this last week. Sure made us appreciate 93…ok not so much.
Those curls is Isabelle’s hair are beautiful! I am so glad for you that your children are so close and get along so well. ❤️
Oh gosh, I think I watched Dirt Dancing a bizillion times…it is embarassing to admit that!
I understand your feeling about 9/11. I don’t think anyone old enough to remember that day will ever forget where they were the moment the news broke. I too, recall how seeming perfect a day it was and how surreal the unfolding events were within that perfection. I think the most significant and impactful events in our lives almost become part of our DNA and can just gut punch us with a reminder when we least expect it.
Little Isabelle deserves a “YOU GO GIRL” cheer ( even if it is silent) every time she picks herself up, dusts herself of and keeps going.
We discovered Bluey at the beginning of quarantine as well- we love it! My husband and I may love it more than the kids haha! It’s really well done! Have a good weekend!
I try to keep TS Almond Pound Cake and Beer Bread mix on hand in my pantry. The Bayou Bourbon glaze is amazing too!
What kind of cookie scoops do you use? I had a Pampered Chef one for years and then it broke trying to scoop out chilled chocolate chip cookie dough. I’m up for suggestions. Also, I unintentionally unsubscribed from your Friday Things e-mail (I thought I was clicking on a link to place a comment)…how do I get back on the list. I love these e-mails!
Hi Nicole, My regular cookie scoops are also Pampered Chef, I bet I’ve had them for least 15 years! The larger ones I purchased were Vollrath brand. If you go through the comments and questions on Amazon you can figure out the right size for your cookies. They are all color-coded, so like the purple would be for the small, 1-inch cookies, the black for what I would call “regular” or “medium-size” cookies, etc.
I will go into the system and get you back on the Friday Things list… can you just send me an email with the email you signed up with?
Hi! Your link to the article on why the kids TV show is great? Goes to an article on Dollar Sore for back to school. Thanks!
Hi Phyllis, That’s so weird, but I fixed it! It links to the correct article now :). So sorry about that!
