Friday Things #598
1. Dominic has been feeling great since his last immunotherapy treatment. He missed one day of cross country practice right after he got out of the hospital, but has been going full steam ahead ever since. He’s been running, went to a meet, played in his first hockey games of the season, had trumpet lessons at school, had a piano lesson, and asked to sign up for Cub Scouts. He is living life fully, has so much energy, and it makes my heart so incredibly happy.
2. Isabelle isn’t running cross country, but she always wants to go to the meets because she LOVES playing with the little ones who are there. Last week, she played with the toddler brother of one of her classmates and legitimately had so much fun. She is so wonderful with little kids… she keeps saying she wants to either be a teacher or a nurse when she grows up and I think she has the perfect personality for either 😍
3. Jackie Kennedy’s favorite casserole sounds like a lighter version of noodle kugel… I need to give it a try!
4. The first half of this week was very, very rainy and cold and while not ideal weather, I am thrilled to finally welcome to fall season to this area. There’s something so enjoyable about taking a long walk in a sweatshirt and not getting overheated.
5. Have you read Theo of Golden yet? I loved it so much and just saw that it is being made into a movie with Tom Hanks starring as Theo!
6. We decided earlier in the summer that we were going to redesign the front room in our house opposite the dining room (the “formal living room”, gah I hate that term). Since Joseph was a toddler, it has been a playroom with IKEA cube shelves and one of those kids table and chairs sets. We realized the kids have outgrown that space, as Joseph rarely even plays with toys, everyone is too big for the table and chairs to do homework, etc. there. So, we enlisted the help of ChatGPT to help us reimagine the space where we could still have storage for books and toys the kids wanted to keep, but also turn into a cozy room where we could read, play games, etc. After some tweaking, it generated some phenomenal ideas and we’ve been slowly building out the room as we find the pieces we want for in there. I’m so excited to see the finished space! If you haven’t used an AI tool for help decorating or redesigning a space and you need some help, give it a try… this is maybe my favorite use of it so far!
7. My mom’s birthday is this weekend and I’m making the two things she requests every single year for her birthday – sausage, pepper, and mushroom risotto, along with chocolate chip scones for dessert.
8. We are so thrilled to have hockey on the TV again in the evenings! I swear it’s a comfort sound for me.
9. Dominic has been waiting for Toy Story 5 to hit streaming services since we missed it in the theaters, and I think it just released to Disney+ this week. Hoping we can snag some time to watch it this weekend!
