Friday Things #597

1. After watching her brothers for years, Isabelle asked over the summer if she could try hockey, so here we go! We already got the pink stick tape ;-)
2. Dominic finished up his cycle of immunotherapy on Saturday evening, and we were home nice and early Sunday morning. He bounced back pretty quickly and was back at school on Monday (though pretty tired that evening!). Very grateful for a smooth treatment and an easy transition back to regular life.
3. While we were at the hospital, I finished reading Winter Garden and OH MY GOODNESS, what a phenomenal book. Highly recommend! I just started The Calamity Club, but I’m only one chapter in so far!
4. “Your life is simply your days, accumulated. Did today’s habits contribute to the life you want to build?” -James Clear
5. Has anyone else been inundated with the Facebook and Instagram videos that show, for instance, “Christmas Eve 1985” or “December 1988”? They are so nostalgic, and I can almost FEEL being back there. They are obviously made with AI, but I can’t stop watching every time one pops up on my feed; for me, the 80s and 90s were just so special.
6. Oh my gosh, a bus driver for dogs – this is the sweetest thing!
7. “We are all connected. The way you choose to live ripples into the future. Your decisions today can be a blessing or a curse for your descendants. Strive to live in such a way that the world will gain from your time here.” -James Clear
8. This story about a neighborhood potato party reminded me of a get-together once of my oldest friends had, gosh, maybe 15 years ago. She invited a few of us over to her house for a “dip party”. The premise was simple – everyone brought their favorite dip along with the recipe (this party was the source of the buffalo chicken dip and Reuben dip!). We sampled everything and left with new favorite recipes. It’s such a wonderful idea, and you could substitute dip with potato or literally anything else!
9. We’ve been watching Taken, which is about 10 years old, but very, very good! Have you watched anything good lately?
10. TGIF! Judith wishes you a wonderful weekend!

That doggy’s day out bus sounds like such a joy! What a great service for pet owners.
Thank you Father for answered prayers for Dominic. He is a brave little boy. Happy that Isabella is trying our new things well done Isabella.
I am half way through this big book The Calamity Club loving it.
Just watched The Green Book on Netflix really good movie.
Have a great week end.
Go Isabelle! Although I do not skate or play hockey, I was the manager of the first women’s hockey team at Boston College. That program has become top tier in college athletics. In fact, over the past few years several members have played – and won gold! – in the Winter Olympics. You never know…🏒⛸️🥇
I love the story about the dog bus. Don’t give up on The Calamity Club. I thought it was sad and boring at first, but it’s a great book. It’s hilarious and sad. Keep reading.
Have a Blessed weekend.
Love that Isabelle is playing hockey…and pink tape too!! My daughter was the same way with her 2 older brothers playing too.
Praise the Lord for Dominic’s immunotherapy and recovery. Thankful he’s back at school!!
Calamity Club! I listened to it on audio book!! I liked the book!! A little racy in parts, but keep reading!! Great characters. Interesting story line and history behind it (authors note at the end on the audio book!!)
I just finished reading ‘Theo of Golden’ by Allen Levi…wow fabulous book about generosity and how we live our lives (James Clear would approve). Almost done listening to ‘The Measure’ by Nikki Erlick’ completely different the. Anything I’ve read. Really makes a person think about their true prejudices!! I recommend it!!
How’s Judith doing ??
I love reading your family/life updates and all the book/tv recs. We started the show Widows Bay and only a few episodes in but it has a Lost (from the early 2000s) vibe and really liking it so far.
Hello Michelle,
I’m new to your blog and I see you have been a medical journey with your son. I’m starting a journey of my own with my daughter and her neuroblastoma. I was wondering if you have a reading book list that you’ve accumulated that I could use as a reference. Sleep has been impossible lately and I’ve found myself reading in those quiet long hours. Thank you and God bless you and your family.
Dear Michelle, Love reading your Friday updates! Happy to learn Dominic continues to do well. He is always in my prayers❣️I happened to pick up the Winter Garden in our local book exchange, can’t wait to read it. Thank you for your yummy recipes, ideas, word of wisdom and photos! ❤️🐾😊 Go Isabelle!
