Friday Things #475
1. Joseph made his First Communion last week! He got strep and missed the original day but was able to attend a makeup one later in the week. THEN his dek hockey team won their championship game! He had a wonderful weekend, to say the least!
2. And my new favorite picture of my sweet babes:
3. We are in full end-of-school-year mode over here! (Whoever coined the term “Maycember” was right on the money – May definitely gives the holidays a run for their money in terms of how many events there are!) The kids are so excited for summer break, and I am, too! What fun things do you do around home or town during the summer?
4. I have seen this vegetable chopper all over Instagram in the last few months! Does anyone have it? Is it better than a good knife? I need details!
5. I read this in the most recent James Clear newsletter I thought it was worth sharing:
“Be excited for people when they succeed.
When a friend or family member reaches an important milestone like getting a promotion or making their first sale or scoring acceptance into their desired program, celebrate it. Buy them a drink. Send them a card. Tell them you’re proud to know them.
Being thrilled on someone’s behalf is a lovely way to be. Winning is better when shared.”
6. Summer always screams angel food cake to me; if you’ve never tried making one, I beg you to try! Head over to the homemade angel food cake recipe and add it to your weekend baking list :)
7. I love the little poem in this Instagram reel… “you’ll only have shadows when your life is filled with sun” ☀️ Gosh, how fast kids grow!
8. Looking to jumpstart your spring cleaning? This list of 23 Things to Declutter in 2023 is a great place to start!
9. We need some new TV ideas… what are some of your recent favorites?
10. TGIF! I found Duke like this when I got out of bed one morning, and boy, he looked so content!
Shows I’ve been into-
The Last Thing He Told Me (apple)… I actually read the book recently, too, so that was a fun find. Queen Charlotte (netflix)- of the Bridgerton times. I was INTRIGUED to find out it was real-ish. Firefly Lane (netflix)- about to start the 3rd season (another book series). Shows my husband I watched- Shrinking (apple)… Harrison Ford made me laugh so much!! Waiting to start the next season of Ted Lasso (apple) and Beef (netflix) was very intriguing! Riveting [until the final episode, TBH]….. Ted Lasso is the most tame of the ones we watch together. the others are TV-MA
Beautiful family! God bless you.
First Communion! Joseph looks so grown up! Beautiful pictures!
Just finished watching the last season of The Marvelous Mrs Maisel- loved the whole series. Started watching Russian Doll on recommendation – a time loop concept, if you are up for something different.
Also just finished reading “Hello Beautiful!” by Ann Napolitano and it was so good!
Will have to try the Angel food from scratch- have only used a mix with that one-
And that is exactly how my sweet puppy sleeps- thought it was only her! 😆
Have so much fun with the end of school mayhem!
Joseph is looking so grown up! Beautiful picture of your children. Finally able to watch Ted Lasso and it’s very good but now I’m craving shortbread because they show it in every episode.
Joseph looks so grown-up and dashing for his first communion! I especially love his shoes!
Just love that pic of your kids too. Such a perfect picture.❤….and Duke looks too funny all sprawled out.
I would just stick with a sharp knife. Don’t need one more gadget that takes up space and is time consuming to clean and dry.
Not a fan of the chopper. Mashes instead of clean cuts. One person said it works well for potato salad and that might work. I will stick with a good sharp knife.
I highly recommend that vegetable chopper! I love it!
Great to see the udpates!! Soooo glad to see the pic of your three beautiful babies!!! Happy and Healthy!!!!
I just discovered the world of KDramas last year as Netflix recommended “Home Town Cha Cha Cha” to us as we had watched and really liked Kim’s Convenience (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kim%27s_Convenience).
Now I am a regular watcher of KDramas :)
OMGosh!!!! I’ve been so hooked for 7 years now since my daughters were always watching K-Dramas non-stop!! They’re just so different! They’re very endearing and heartwarming!! Also very emotional. “It’s Ok to Not Be Ok” is one of our all time favorite!!! Also “One Spring Day.” There’s so many more wonderful ones to watch. BTW, I’m in my 60’s and this is my favorite way to spend my free time ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Sending end of school year blessings to your beautiful family! May each day be a fun day!
CONGRATULATIONS JOSEPH !
That food chopper is AMAZING! I would buy it if I only ever used it for pico but we keep chopped veggies for salads on hand. Love!
Ah, Joseph. Whatta man, whatta man, whatta mighty fine man. (courtesy Salt N Pepa). Love the gleaming shoes, the tie. He’s really pulled together, so polished. And congratulations to Joseph on a spectacular weekend.
Julie from Asheville to Florida highly recommends My Octopus Teacher. I know I’m certainly late in finally watching this documentary, so you and your followers may have already viewed this a few years ago. I’ve now watched it five times. It is just mesmerizing and a nice way to remove yourself from what is going on in our world today. All the best to you and your sweet family.
Duke is practicing “dog spreading) – the doggie version of “man spreading”. Too cute
Re: food chopper
My grandson swears by it when he uses it for onions. I tried it and it seems to squish the vegetable, resulting in non-uniform slices or pieces.
Hi Michelle,
Joseph looks so grown up with his suit on! Congratulations to him! Speaking of summer break, I work from home and my grandchildren (11 and 13) will be with me for a total of about 5 weeks over the summer when we are not on vacation or they are not in camp. I will take a few days off or a half day here or there so I can still spend time with them, but I am wresting with the idea of how to keep them busy when I am working. So if anyone has recommendations, please let me know! :)
Have a great weekend!
I like watching the Silo. Hate they canceled some of the shows I was watching.
The Company You Keep, Kung Fu, Nancy Drew, East New York, etc…
Duke! Be still my 💜He’s so precious!
I have an older version of that chopper and I use it all the time. Very handy.
Just started watching THE AMERICANS an FX series available on Hulu.
Hooked on the very first episode!
I don’t have that exact chopper. I have a version that is super old that I’m sure I bought off of a TV ad and I will say that it does the job although I am sure that the ones that are out there now are much improved. I think if you are chopping a bunch of things at once, it is worth it to use, but usually for me, it’s one onion, and for that, a knife is better, because it’s quicker & easier to clean a knife than that gadget. I had gone so far as to put it in my donation pile, but I grabbed it out to do an onion, but I think it’s going back in the pile.
How exciting for Joseph and how handsome he looks. Enjoy all of the “Busyness” of May activities! 😊
We have that chopper and I am surprised at how much I love it! Highly recommend!
I have a veggie chopper almost exactly the same as this one shown and I use it all the time. For recipes such as potato salad you want the potatoes to be about the same size so it just makes it a breeze to chop them and so much quicker. I would definitely recommend it. Got mine from amazon as well.
Just started Class of ’09 on Hulu (it airs on FX, I believe). So far, so good!
Oh wow! Congratulations Joseph! Maycember is happening at our house too. This summer will include lots of driving practice and a trip overseas for us but when my son was younger we always participated in our library’s Summer Reading Program, did lots of swimming and stargazing.
I just started watching the diplomat on netflix and it is absolutely fabulous.
